I HAD plans to get out after work but my daughter who is on vacation in Maine sent me something. I think I am going to have to skip hunting tonight.

Well, my brother and I went back to the impact spot. I knew which direction she ran and my brother did find a few small drops of blood here and there but it was obvious she wasn't going to die anytime soon.

This isn't the way I wanted this season to start.

Those are some silly looking deer...I'd say at least 2 year old 120". I love lobstah, one of the very few things I miss not living in Connecticut. Maine lobster is the best, colder water makes them sweeter.

Don't know what we will make to go with it but I know a bottle of wine will be bought on the way home.

The rest of you guys get a big rack so we all can ohh and ah about it!

Just a small bump in the road.

We have confidence that you will shortly pick up where you left off last season...

3 out of 4 hunts I've bumped bedded does within 50 to 100 yds of the place I wanted to hunt. Crap

Spent 4 hours in the stand this morning. Had one behind me before daylight but never got a look and saw only 2 does that were both out of range at 0900. Good luck to those that can make it out tonight and this weekend.

Finally after 1.5 hours I'm setup on public land. This is my first time hunting whitetail on public! My first setup I climbed tree and look around, I see 2 separate stands not 50 yards away on the edge of private property. So I moved away, deeper into the public I go!

Back out this afternoon after a quiet morning. Checked cameras and this clover plot has has activity most every night. Only a 1/4 acre of Whitetail institute clover and chicory but it's 1/2 mile from the road so not as much pressure. Haven't had much buck action on the cameras but this tends to be where they do show up early season. West wind in my face and 40's should make for some action tonight. First sit of the year on this plot, usually that helps also. Good luck to those who are out.

I moved 50 yards down wind of them hoping deer skirt them in the thicket I'm in. They look like gun stands, could be wrong. They are new and there was fresh posted signs

Having lived in Massachusetts for 14 yrs and still going back to visit often I would recommend corn on the cob and potatoes. I usually start with some fried clams for an appetizer. Enjoy

DJT is having a rally 10 mins north of me. I might be the only person out hunting this evening...

Back in a tree on the new farm. I moved a short 25 yards downwind of the intersection I was sitting over yesterday.
