Good luck to all of you that have season opener tomorrow. I’m sitting opener out. Going to visit the college that my son is intending to sign with to play golf for next year. Worth missing opening day for !!!! Will be in the woods Monday evening after work for sure.

We open Monday but not sure when I'm going to go. Temps in the mid 80s all week, next weekend is youth shotgun season. I usually take my niece then. I may wait a week or 2 before I get out.

Good luck guys. I'm hoping to be able to get out in the next week or so. My Daughter has a couple more Cross Country meets and then it will be show time. I'm in the final stages of prep getting gear together and washed etc. The cooler temps are definitely getting me pumped up for the season.

20180928_172051.jpg I found a chicken of the woods behind the house this morning. Also saw a really nice buck when I was in the yard. 130s 8pt, hope he sticks around.

So how do you cook it and does it taste like chicken?

Dragged the wife and daughter out to the lease to get the last ladder stand up. A good time was had by me and me only. The work is nearly done.
Cellular trail cam has been sending me pictures of some small bucks hitting the acorns pretty hard. Hopefully I can start hunting soon.

We pull it apart like a head of cauliflower. Soak in saltwater for an hour to kill bugs, bread and fry like chicken. Yeah, we think the taste like chicken strips.

So in the evening I hunted a stand that has two bucks showing fairly consistently and I was hoping to get on one....
I had does on me almost all afternoon from 3:00 Pm until dark and ten minutes before shooting light I was gone I seen one of the hit-listers step out of the standing corn and into a green field but he was several hundred yards out, So hopefully sometime soon I can get in there with a good wind and hunt him

    Anyways moving onto Sunday (Today)
I didn’t make it out for a morning hunt but had a spot picked out for the evening doe hunt, Has a good wind and easy access so I slipped in and had several does work the plot but I patiently held off until the big monarch doe stepped in and I took the first 33 yard broadside shot I had, I made a good shot and she didn’t go very far so I was extremely happy to have a deer down this early in the season already !!

I’ll enter my photo on the score board and hopefully everyone else has a great season ahead of them as well!
