Glad to have you Shoot Straight! I don't mean to brag, but if you think you grow em big just wait till you see these Pennsylvania Monsters! My name is Josh by the way, what is yours?
I'm excited to see what happens this year, I didn't hang any cameras in what I call "The Grove". It's my home base so to speak and all four of my 150" + deer have come off this property. Last year the neighbor decided to start up an outfitter post on the neighboring property and had a bunch of goons paying him 2 grand a week to pressure all of the big bucks I had been studying for the past two years and force them into moving solely between the hours of midnight and 3 AM. I'm hoping by leaving the property in peace that I'm creating a sanctuary for them in my neck of the woods and letting "The Outfitter" continue to run around on his UTV checking cameras twice a day and by doing so chasing a majority of the deer in the section into "The Grove"! Here's a glimpse of a few of the deer that I know are still there by glassing from the road.
Well I just finished cooking up 25 pounds of venison sausage. All I can say is wow! Part of me wants to save the tenderloins and backstrap of the next deer for the frying pan and grind the rest of it up! Most of it is smoked summer sausage and a little bit of it is breakfast sausage. View attachment 86027 That is just one batch, I got 13 links in total and 5 pounds of breakfast sausage. I could not be happier with the results! Sent from my iPhone using http://r.tapatalk.com/byo?rid=77333]Bowhunting.com Forums
My phone won’t let me upload the other pics, I will put them in later Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Very nice I am still trying to finish my last couple links from my rifle season doe from last year. It was my first try at sausage making. Turned out pretty good, but it is a bit of a job.
This was my first try as well, it definitely is an all day process. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I've been out a few times, but nothing yet. About 30 minutes before shooting light, had some four legged creature follow my path to my tree, stop (for what seemed like an eternity) and then scamper off. I think it was a deer, but my mind certainly was going through some other options of what it could have been! Still learning this new area I am hunting but hoping to see something during daylight!
I will be in a tree this weekend at some point. its a early antlerless hunt but it coincides with the youth hunt. So my kids get priority. Good Lord willing our family will have a deer down this weekend! I was finally able to get a few cameras out. couple nice bucks, one 3.5 yr old but none I will shoot yet. Good luck to you guys who are getting to the woods already!
Nice, here's hoping one of your kids gets a shot at a nice doe this weekend! I've still got ten days to go, I'm with you dmen, hopefully it cools down between now and then.
Planning to get out tomorrow afternoon and Saturday morning. Going to scout out a new area and try to set up on fresh sign. This will also determine where I hunt Saturday morning. Hoping to see my first deer from a stand this season... If I do, I will by trying to get a shot off no matter what it is.
I am going to try to get out tomorrow afternoon, work permitting. I will be out Saturday morning for sure. We have a cold front coming through tomorrow. 93 today high of 79 tomorrow, then 71 Saturday. It already has the moving, I have had 5 doe in the food plot behind my house. Usually only 2-3 a evening.
Sorry I’ve been MIA!!! Been swamped with work and family!! Finally cooling off here in Kansas today and into next week when I start my week off! I’m not sure what I have for deer this year because I’ve had nothing but problems with my damn brand new trail cameras not working! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
October 1 can't get here soon enough. Hearing about you guys hitting the woods has me sitting in Illinois pretty jealous!
