I got to looking at the head in more detail (season hasn't started yet and I'm easily interested in hunting stuff.) Guessing that bleeder is far enough back on the ferrule that the tip has already busted the bone by the time the bleeder hits. But a single bevel on the same side would help multiply the corkscrew effect thru soft tissue.

80 degrees predicted for the opener in WI. I think I’ll be filming for a buddy who’s got a good buck coming in consistently night after night 45 min before dark. Should be exciting.

I was drawn for a city park hunt this year (2,800 acres). Been out scouting quite a bit and I found a good spot tonight. A few buck beds that I can slip up into following a stream in. Good travel corridor with some funnels leading to food. Found a couple rubs that came up to my waist! Now I just have to wait 3.5 weeks to hunt it!

Yeah, that hurricane is no joke. Read multiple sources that say could be the costliest hurricane ever in terms of property destruction. Could drop anywhere from 2 to 4 feet of rain if it stalls out over the Carolinas.

might be skipping Opening Weekend in WI....hate to do it but it's supposed to be low-mid 80s now. Next week much cooler.
If that's the case I'll spend this weekend in MI working on my camper and maybe hanging a couple stands if I have the time.

I'm skipping opening day in MN as well, hope to get the right wind someday next week to sneak into a tree for a few hours of an evening hunt.

good luck- he may be up and about ahead of the hurricane.
As for me it's official; I'll be passing this weekend and going next instead. Next week massive cool down with lows in the lower 40s and overcast skies will limit the moonlight. I can hardly wait!

washing clothes in the special sauce, getting my early season gear together, charging my cameras.... getting excited and it's only Thursday!
Forecast keeps creeping up but still shouldn't crack 70.

Going to set up close to bedding in the AM and try to catch them coming back from acorns.

All I have left from last year's doe is the neck roast. Roast is going in the smoker tonight to take up for the weekend.

wish I could make it out tomorrow evening for that cold front moving though; but I'll have to settle for Saturday. I'm back and forth over whether or not I will take a doe if the opportunity presents. Be nice to get one on the board and in the freezer. Maybe Sunday afternoon. I don't want to pollute the woods Saturday.
