Just came back up the hill from digging out a natural pool in a spring runoff and laying the seed for my very first food plot. Went simple this year just to try it out and see what happens; a no-till formula with ryegrass, clover, and a rape brassica on a circle I raked out on the hillside. Here's hoping it takes off!
That improvement looks good and should help. Lucky me I have 2 creeks on my farm and that have little ponds most of the time.
We've got 2 pretty nice size creeks on the other side of the property. The one that's on this side of the hill is clear down by the road though so I'm trying to give them more options on this side that keeps them away from the road.
Looks like the OP put in some time, effort, and sweat into his project. Can you explain why you feel that he made a mistake?
Perianal rye grass is for lawns but annual rye grass is for grazing livestock. It appears that he planted this which will work very good for him.. https://www.evolved.com/browse/food-plot-seeds/view-all/throw-gro-no-till-forage
They seem to be enjoying it. I've been getting a good amount of traffic through that section of the woods, they've even worn a new trail up the hill since I put it in so I'm not complaining. I'll be hunting over it in just 2 more weeks and I can't wait! Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
