Had that happen before in late October - pushed my luck - found a deep hole that was up to my chest. Needless to say that was the end of that hunt.

Not in the right area but the family and I are safe from the hurricane. We lost cell service, power and running water the past few days. Lost a shed alot of fencing and a tree down but other then that all is well. Thanks to a couple of the guys who reached out to me on here. Someone do some hunting for me.

Might get my first hunt of the year in this next weekend. Usually I'm out hunting early in September. Been busy as heck. Good luck fellas!

Last 25 minutes of shooting light. Hoped the elk would use the water hole below me and head into the alfalfa field on the other side of the ridge. [IMG]

Way back in the day when my grandpa hunted this property he always said he’s seen a couple bucks with black pigmentation, we are think he has a little bit of it that just made his coat dark! Excited to see him on the hoof, I agree on the mass!

Wishing I was live from the stand....Just checked trail cam in the backyard.... would not mind if mom or dad came through! 2nd bear I’ve seen in Spotsylvania/Culpepper county in the last two days (granted this was in August)

Well thats a first for me. It was pouring rain this morning but I went out scouting anyways. I am behind learning some new properties.

I'm soaked and after a few hours I'm starting to find some decent deer sign. Creeks were swelling a bit but I was good. Well about noon all hell breaks loose in the woods. Dark dark skies and torrential downpours. Creeks go from like 2 feet wide to like 4 to 5 feet wide in 30 minutes. I start hauling butt out of the woods as I'm more than a mile deep.

Get in my truck and get out of there. Find out s darn tornado had touched down about 10 miles to the south and had been heading in my general direction. That 40mph tornado ain't touching my 60 mph truck. Lol

I was out at the Briery Creek WMA near Farmville. Beautiful place. I need to scout it for about 10 days or so next winter. Im gonna head back in tomorrow with my kayak and hit the opposite shoreline. Should be tough to get to for most people unless they are willing to boat in. Lol. My old butt was running uphill to my truck.
