Looking for some input on a good youth bow. My son turns 4 this November and I think it would be a great time to get him started in shooting, or at least see if he likes it!

I'd want something pretty compact but with adjustability (draw and poundage for when he gets bigger).

Anybody start their kids around this age and have a recommendation? Thanks!

I bought my son a Bear Brave when he was four. It was a little much at first until I turned the limbs bolts down to the lowest setting. It is great for him now that he is seven.

My son just turned 6 and I got him a Mini Genesis which is great. At 4 I didn't feel like he was big enough or ready for much outside of a pretty basic stick bow. I believe we had a Bear 1st Shot. May want to look at the Bear Scout as well.

the diamond atomic is probably a good bow for the age.....there will be a lot more choices in 2-3 years

I would advise that you go with the Genesis Mini, mainly because they do not drop in value like the other compounds like the atomic or the Bear and PSE offerings that will fit a 4 year old. I started my kids with the mini when one was 5 and the other was 8. When I upgraded to the Infinite Edge for the older boy, I only lost $30.00 on the sale of the mini compared to what I paid for it. In reality, a little fiberglass recurve would be fine to get him started. Make sure you focus on fun and form though. Fun because you want him to stick with it, and form because those bad habits get ingrained really fast.
