The handful of Brownings have worked well for me. I would keep buying them. We’ve came along way from the day you had to actually put film insinde the camera!
I buy all bargain equipment due to my small budget for hunting, so all I have real experience are Wildgame innovations Axe 5. Picture quality isn’t the best and the cameras trigger pretty easily from weeds and grass and whatnot, but batteries have lasted September through December on all 5 of the cameras for the last two years. And for 30-35 bucks for all of them, that’s really all I can ask for.
This times a million, I have two that are still in the woods. One still works 100% the other doesn’t flash at night. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have had zero issues with my 4 Covert Black HD 60's. This is the 3rd year for them with great results. they don't have this model anymore and I wasn't impressed by the looks of the new models. I have been looking to try the new Browning Dark Ops Pro next.
I tried the dark ops pro xd and was very disappointed. Returned it. Good review of it on slaycam.com forum. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
What sort of problems were people having with versions 2 and 3? I bought one a couple months ago and have been happy with it so far. Amazon has them for $85 so was thinking about getting another.
I got this camera from Walmart for $5 in January or February. They'll put them on clearance in the winter time if they have any remaining. Often times just sitting on the bottom of the lock display case back in the sporting goods to make room on the hangers for new products. No price tag or clearance tag was on mine I had to ask how much it was. The cashier said he gets a couple every year and has a bunch piled up at his house. I checked out the other walmarts in the area but they were out lol. I've only had it out for 1 card pull but seemed decent enough.
I have yet to put my new G42ng's out. I've got them all prepped and ready to go but I'm still waiting on locks for the lock boxes. I'm going to lag screw the boxes onto the trees and then put a lock on the box and try that. Set them up out of the line of sight too. Friggin thieves, cost you money when they steal from lost property and cost you more money when you have to take extra security measures.
My Reconyx just died this year after more than 10yrs of use. Next in line, surprisingly enough, is my Moultrie M80 that is going on about 8 years. I will also cry when my Covert Red 40 dies, it's been a real workhorse since 2012. The three Brownings I have are going strong but the oldest of them is only 3 years old. Blessings..........Pastorjim
I have a few Stealth Cam G30's that are going on 4 1/2 years of service without a hiccup. I think those are currently my longest running cameras. Although the DS4K hasn't been out long, none of mine have missed a beat so far. Battery life is stellar and they take the best photos of any trail cam I've ever owned.
Well I had one of my new G42s take a few test pics... I am pissed....the day pics (didn't take any night pics yet) are okay, clear enough but they changed from the wide angle aspect ratio to the narrow one like the coverts and other. WTF Stealthcam?! ReallY?! No wonder they dropped the price on them. What a crappy thing to pull. Why do companies do this, every time they "improve" an existing camera, they just ruin it. I guess it's a good way of marketing the newer models. Big strike against Stealthcam in my book.
I loved our old ones that were 10mp, the new ones are supposed to be 12mp and aren't as good as the old ones.
After playing around with these new G42ng cameras, I discovered the 8mp setting still takes pics in the wide aspect ratio but the pics suck. I pulled the card from one I have out set on the 12mp setting. I guess I can live with them, definitely a step back from the old ones though. New cams: Old cams:
Check out the pics from the cheapy Tasco cam I bought at Wallyworld a while back. I'm pretty impressed with it for a $40 camera (I think it was $40).
DLC covert is my go to cameras, just bought a SPYPOINT, not too bad I guess pics aren’t like my others but it has been spot on with sending pics some of which are all fuzzed up, other than that it does the job
I have a 2012 Covert MP6 that just died on me. Over 500,000 pics. I have a 2012 Covert Red 40 that has almost 500,000 and it is on it's way out. You can't get them anymore and their news ones are not the same. I recommend a Stealth Cam G30. I have a Stealth Cam 30 that has nearly 200,000 pics in just over 3 years and it is still going strong. I have a few of them as well as a G42 and G45. For the money, you can't beat a Stealth Cam G30. They are built like a tank and work really, really well.
