I have been out probably twenty times on some land on the west outskirts of Calgary Alberta and finally shot my first Deer. He walked infront of my tree stand at 15yards when I shot him. Due to some nerves and lack of experience, I forgot to move my feet before shooting and just twisted my body instead. This pushed my shot back a little bit but the deer ended up dying quickly. I'm amazed at how much you really do learn through your hunting experience. I've found it's so easy to overlook all the little details once that dear gets in your sights that you want to shoot. I have to give my brother a big thanks for pretty much walking me through all my steps in deer hunting and helping me out with everything. I'm pretty damn happy with my first deer.

Thanks everyone. I give all bowhunters credit for the hardwork that it takes. You have to put alot of time and effort into being able to get close enough to get the shot. My family has always bow hunted and I always overlooked the time they put in and how addicting it is. I'm definately addicted. There is a few bigger bucks out there that I will have to wait til next year to try and get them.

I'd be pretty damn happy with a sturdy buck like that even if it was my 50th deer!

    Congrats!

An awesome deer !! Especially for a first.

Your photos look great. A mix of some quakies, brush and rolling terrain ...A+

Yeah I'm really happy with this deer. Yeah this is bow zone only. We have a pretty sweet setup. My girlfriends dad leases 4 or 5 quarter sections that are boardering Calgary on the west side. Just over the hills in the background of my picture is where the city starts. Me, my bro and dad are the only ones with permission to hunt on the land. Today my dad shot a deer just across the highway from where I was hunting. I'll post some pictures of it once I get them from him. I'm thinking it could be the father or older brother of my buck. He has a awesome rack. Just like my buck but bigger in every aspect.

Thanks everyone. This year has been awesome so far. I just hope my bro can get himself a good one.

Here are picks of the one my dad got today. He's a massive 4 point.

Thanks everyone. I can't wait to get my head back from my taxidermist. I'm getting a euro mount done and still trying to decide exactly what I'll be doing with the mount to spruce it up a little. I'll try to post pictures once I get them.
