my daughter is 14 and very petite in size... but she wants to get into hunting deer this year! She’s shooting a diamond bow and she can shoot 40 pounds but struggles so I’m gana have her hunting at 35 lbs (which is legal by our law) ... she has a really short draw... I am wondering what is everyone’s suggestions for broadheads for such light weight draw that will get far enough in to poke the lungs?
Small and fixed is your only option....its all about placement . Double lung should be her goal. Slick trick is a standard of awesome.
For the money theses are good. A little more expensive would be the DRT heads. Ideally with her setup you want a 2 blade head that is cut on contact to get you the most penetration possible. You can hit these with a sharpening stone and get them really sharp if you know what you are doing. Good luck to your daughter. https://www.amazon.com/Carbon-Express-4-Blade-Broadhead-Weight/dp/B002UJ52OS
Another vote for Slick Trick; last year my hunting buddy’s son had a pass thru on a doe at 16 yds using a ST standard. He was pulling around 40-42 lbs. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
3 votes for Slick Trick standards or magnums. My 76 year old grandfather shoots 42 lbs (legal in Alberta) and had a pass through on a cow elk at 30 yards.
I appreciate everyone’s s responses... but I take it no mechanicals like rage?!? Everyone is fixed blade
I've been hyping these heads for years. Awesome value. As good as Slick Trick Standards are; I'd not let her shoot anything that wasn't a CoC with that light of a set up.
She is not shooting a strong enough set up for mechanicals. I offer another vote for Slick Tricks. I have used them the past six seasons. I will not be changing. I could shoot mechanical broadheads with my set up but I won’t. Slick Tricks are too good of a head. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
My son killed his first buck with CoC broadheads while shooting 37 pounds. I don’t even remember what brand it’s been so long but they were CoC. Complete pass thru. If you don’t go CoC then Slick Trick is the way to go.
