I shot 1 vertical for years as I cut my lanes at 25 in the thick....but as food plot hunts increased i changed to 3 ( still vertical )
7 pins set at 3, 7, 11, 17, 19, 23, and 29 yards. Because I have found that deer tend to avoid walking by at 5 or 10 yard increments. I think they are on to our ways. It works well for me.
5 and 1. I have a 5 pin Trophy Ridge React on my Bowtech and a single pin Spot Hogg Fast Eddie on my Mathews. Taking out your middle pin will obviously clear up your sight picture but my only concern if it were me is trying to gap in between those distances without the 30 yard pin to help. It would take some practice trying to accurately hit the in between distances for me.
Last year I shot 7 but I didnt like having to count pins a full draw. This year I went to a 5 pin slider, the Black Gold Pure Gold 75 and so far I am in love with it. 20, 30 ,40 are 0.019 pins and 50, 60 are 0.010 pins. Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk
Fletch what's your draw weight that allows your rig to shoot "pin different " at that close of ranges
I just switched from 5 to 3. A 3 pin slider. 2 horizontal- 20, 30. 1 vertical 40-100+. Even though, where I hunt 30-40 is average in thick cover, but if situation arises for 40+ I can still be able to take the shot. Sent from my VS987 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
5 for practice till the season starts. 20, 30, 37, 50, and 60. When season starts the bottom 2 get dropped to open up my picture. I have no reason to shoot more than 37 on any of my stands so I go to 3 pins at 20, 30 and 37. I'm thinking about picking up a single pin though. -D
