dnoodles gets another vote. I also was selected for a public park hunt this year. It is the first time this park is getting hunted, so hopefully there will be big dumb bucks running around :)

So, things have been pretty crazy busy for me up here these days. Which is why I've been a ghost on the forums for awhile. I officially stopped running the forums, Instagram and some other work for Bowhunting.com this winter. Between the resort getting busier year round my marketing business starting to really take off, my free time has become nonexistent. Having a 3 year old doesn't help either.

This business has also kept me out of the woods, though I'm finding a silver lining to that. In the past I've become overly obsessive chasing some of these bucks, and I think it's hurt my chances at those particular animals. So, this year I'm going into it with a minimalistic attitude. I'll put a few cameras soon, to try and make sure a few of these bucks are still out there, but the constant quest for photos and data is a thing of the past. Or atleast not going to be a concern this season.

There are two bucks that I'm looking for this year. Walter has been on my radar since 2015:

I've driven myself a bit crazy playing cat & mouse with him, but I know the main ridges that he likes to cruise and hope to catch up with him there once he starts cruising. Here's one of my shots of him last season and a couple from my neighbors yard.

There's one more buck, Ocho, that I'd like to come across this season. Pretty sure we was a 3.5 yo last year and hope he adds a little more mass this year. Got a few photos of him throughout the year including his sparring with the buch in the background here (who could be nice this season with another year on him):

Now, if I can get draw for the city hunt in Tower, MN I'll be able to take up to 4 does late season. I have pretty good odds of drawing. There are only 10 hunters given permission, but only 13 applied last year. That will take the pressure of me hunting my home range for sure.

Other than that, I'll be headed out to Colorado to film Todd Graf on another elk hunt mid-Sept (actually over our bow opener), which is always a good time. I also was able to secure a bear tag here in MN. So for the first time, I'm going to try my hand a chasing a bruin. One in particular has peaked my interest. I call him Bubba...

There. Now you're all caught up :tu:

I'll do my best to check in as regularly as possible.

    J_Carnley checking in.
Hunt and live in extreme southern Indiana along the Ohio river. I hunt private ground most of the time, but have a few little public spots that I hit a couple times a year. Looking forward to this season.

What public area are you hunting in Indiana? I live close to the Harrison Crawford state And the Hoosier national. I’ve hunted both in years passed.

So far this is the best I’ve got on camera but there are bigger ones that live on my main farm I just haven’t checked cameras there yet.

For sure up near Roush/ Huntington reservoir; possibly in Portage County. I've hunted Hoosier in the past back when I was at school.

hah, live and learn. At least you don't have to drop the coin on a new one.
Hopefully they didn't treat you like a dumass. Lots of bowshops treat new archers like crap.

that's awesome. Hype him on this site; in my experience it's a rare pro shop owner who treats people decent.

w1ckstar checking in, sorry about being late, I’ve been in Tennessee all summer at lineman training school and didn’t have good enough service to check the forum that often. Just made it back to my home in central WI, I have had cameras out all summer while I was gone and I will be checking them out tomorrow to see what I got this year!

We are all checked in, BTW. I will let Kaufman know. Then I will try to bribe him into letting us steal Boonerville. Or at least letting us trade Fitz and some wolves for Holt or CowboyChris.

(juuuuuust kidding, Fitz. Those are some nice bucks.)
