jlmini30 checking in also from Missouri. Seems we have plenty of Missouri guys on the team! I live in O’Fallon which is about 40 minutes west of StL. I also hunt in northern Missouri and will probably ramp things up come the end of October. I’m excited for the season to get going and to see how we all do!

My hunt will begin on September 14th on a DIY Elk hunt in CO. This will be my first time ever chasing elk or doing any sort of Western hunt. I'm and thrilled and nervous all at the same time.

Whitetail season begins for me on October 1st everywhere I hunt. I have a lease/club in Mississippi that is my primary hunting spot, only 2 hours from my house. Public land trip to IL for the rut in early November. Potential early December trip to a lease we have in Western Oklahoma. The rut kicks in at our MS lease is in early January.

Going to do some work at my place in MS this weekend, hopefully I'll have some pics to show.

Killed 4 does and 3 pigs with my bow last season. Shot, lost, and then recovered a giant buck in IL last season. Long story short, I made a bad shot, had a dog come out to look for it with no luck. A guy duck hunting found it 10 days later. He was able to contact me through speaking with the local GW and I was able to drive up and recover the deer.

Cool! And another Joe Dirt avatar in the mix. I'm about 30 minutes southeast of KCMO.

Looks like we are only missing one person. That's pretty good for only a couple days. I updated the list. Man, some of the pics of bucks you guys are posting are awesome. I only have a mediocre 8 on my cameras so far along with a couple scrubs, but I'm not really worried. I moved to MO about 2 years ago and have struggled with finding land and then learning how the deer move. I have some good options this year. I have a camera soaking on a 20 acre private spot and exclusive rights to 40 acres that is land locked. I may get permission on another 80 acres. Anyway, I have options all withing 30 minutes from home. I feel like this will be a good year. Alright enough of my blabbing. Till next time.

Always good to see more joe dirt! I’m also very impressed with these pictures our team is posting. I’m planning on heading up to my dad’s property sometime this month to get cameras up and then depending on if I have a daytime moving buck or not will determine if I get up there before the pre rut. Otherwise I’ll be trying out grandpas back 40 that’s close to home to try and get a doe.

I hunted the Kirksville/Lancaster area in Northern Missouri with Ray Eye several times. That has been over 10 years ago now.

They had some great bucks up there! Either of you Dirt boys hunt Kirksville/Lancaster area?

Actually yes very close to there. My dad and grandpa currently own small properties about 15 minutes north and 15 minutes south of Memphis off highway 15. My family used to hunt in plevna before that Farm got sold. Very small world! Definitely a lot of good deer in that area.

I've not hunted up there, but know a few guys that have and do. Are you talking about THE Ray Eye? Turkey hunting legend, Ray Eye?

Yep the one and only. That man is crazy!

Hunted with him for 3-4 years. I still stay in touch when he comes in for seminars and such locally.

I've heard he is nutty as a squirrel turd. A good friend of mine always went on and on about everything Ray said about turkeys. I grew up in western NC with no real population of turkeys. So we all kind of dreamed about Missouri and the huge turkeys it holds. I think my buddy memorized at least one of his books and met Ray once. Anyway that is pretty cool you hunted with him and know him. Only outdoor celebrity I've met is Bill Dance. Also crazy. Good dude tho.

Anyone have some team name ideas?

I like to try to make a play on the number 15 but I'm not sure in what way.

Team 15 Inch Brows (or G2's or Tines, etc)

    Team 15 Yard Shot

    Other suggestions?

Been thinking but nothing seems to stick at this point. I think I wasted my only opinion on this last year when i suggested Does be trippin and that's what we were.

I hunt about 30-40 minutes west of Kirksville. Seems like everywhere we go, we run into someone from that neck of the woods. Turkey season wasn't all that great this year but it's been darn good in the past.

Guess I'll PM our lone no show. Once he joins I think we can pick a captain and team name. I think we will get 2 more members assigned once the alternate list is done. Geez this feels like work. Lol.
