Another IT guy who bow hunts! Glad I'm not on the ops side anymore but miss the hands on stuff. Looking forward to season opening. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Drath checkin' in. hehehe IT OPS manager here. I manage a gang of T2 techs. My son (8 yo) shot his first squirrel this past weekend. He happened to get it with the same .410 that I shot my first one with a million years ago. Live in St. Louis and hunt in Northern MO on private land. My dad owns 210 acres. It's a long drive so I only get out about 4 times per season but they are generally 4 day weekends and I'm usually good for a doe. -D
I'll update the team list tomorrow evening for those who checked in. We are supposed to get rain and cooler temps tomorrow, so I'm looking forward to checking cameras Saturday. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
When does everyone's season open? Sept 15 for MO. I probably won't get out in the heat tho. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Hillbilly checked in! And just in the nick of time. My season starts this Saturday morning! Fingers crossed!!
Saturday!? Dude that's early... You gonna get out? Any prospects? Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Yes Saturday! Season starts out here early but the cool part is I have a legitimate shot at a velvet buck. Killed one about 4 years ago and it was great. I do have some prospects but the property I hunt is a somewhat rural mandarin orchard with about 3 acres of grapes as well. There are bucks that cruise all the time and just wander from property to property. The hardest part is them being active in the daylight with the care taker driving around a bit and other people being out and about. But they do show up occasionally during daytime. Just have to be there at the right time. Here's my number one prospect. He's grown A LOT since 7/3 and has a little cheater drop on his right main beam now too. I have videos but they are too big to upload. I'll be in the blind with my fingers crossed Saturday morning! Wish me luck. And actually I think I got a picture of this buck last year but only got one pic of him all year. Then he turned into a ghost. So that's what I named him. Anyone think it's the same buck? The body looks about the same and the drop is in the same spot. The picture below is dang near a perfect match to what he looks like now.
I'd say same buck, mainly going off where the brows come off the bases. Don't mind me, just being nosey scouting the competition Saturday is crazy early!
No worries! I think it's the same buck too but more opinions never hurt. The hardest part out here is the temps. It will be 100 Saturday and high 90's most of the time but the bucks still move occasionally. I got a video of him at 1:30 in the afternoon about 3 weeks ago and it was 104 on the camera!
I'd guess same buck if the drop is in the same spot. I wasn't all that fired up just yet but now that the teams are drawn and we have a guy hunting this weekend... it's on! Good luck Jedi. Can't wait to hear about the hunt.
That's too good. I think it's likely the same buck too. Funny side note...first pic looks like he's using a straw but that can't be right in cali. Right? Too soon? Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
