I understand that bowfishing is about hitting the fish with an arrow. But I have been playing with the idea of attaching a lure an arrow. I would then not hit the fish, but rather use a bow and arrow instead of a fishing rod to get the lure far into the water before reeling it in. Are there any equipment sold for this kind of fishing?

Thanks :-) Do you mean lures like they sell here? https://www.rapala.com/ Do you have any experience attaching it to an arrow?

I know the idea may seem silly. I just want to combine archery and fishing. But where I live, conditions aren't in place for conventional bowfishing. Have googled a lot, so I'm starting to doubt anyone has tried this and lived to tell about it ;-)

I can’t see how this would work and what your expecting from it.

You fire and arrow with a lure attached to it, then what? What happens to the arrow? How are you going to present the lure realistically to the fish with an arrow attached to it?

I’m assuming this isn’t a joke so I genuinely curious how you think this would work.

You would have to use 2 lines 1 to retrieve the lure and another to retrieve the arrow, mounting and releasing the lure would be problematic as well.

Yep, and the chances of both lines getting tangled is a certainty.

Thanks for your replies. I'll get back to you if I figure out a way to do this.

Oh that is not real bow fishing that is as bad as using an airbow. You are not a real fisherman or a bow fisher if you own one of those.
