Has anyone ever used the Guide Gear 21 ft Deluxe ladder stands? if so, Pros and cons?

    https://www.sportsmansguide.com/pro...deluxe-double-rail-ladder-tree-stand?a=650788

I am in the market of buying two stands and would like them to be 20ft or higher.. I read the reviews on their website and I see the biggest issue is the paint chipping causing rust. The price point is what I like about them. Does anyone else of any suggestions

Haven't used this particular model; but I don't think Sportsmans Guide brand rust any more/less than some of the other "budget" ladder stands. Big Dog are about the same quality. If you leave a budget stand out all winter it will rust by the spring. When I buy a budget stand I put a little work into it- vinyl washers on every bolt (both sides) and usually paint them myself with bedliner/rust inhibitor then splotches of camo paint. Definitely cuts down on the noise.

Maybe coat it with the bed liner type material to help prevent rust ? May even make it a little more quiet for you in doing so. Never done any of that before to stands but maybe worth a shot

I have a guide gear ladder stand. As mentioned they are pretty on par with other budget stands. Good price point and with a little TLC they will last. I put a coat of flat Rustoleum spraypaint on mine and let it dry on the porch to get the new paint smell off. Have been using it for 5 years now.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I’ll give them a go. I’ll do the modifications when they get in. I looked at X-stands but was trying to justify spending the extra money right now. I did however order a lonewolf alpha after I had a rebate Visa card come in the mail my wife didn’t know about.

What bedliner do you use? Is it the spray type?

"Liked" for the Visa rebate that your wife didn't know about.

I have three of the 18' and one 16' guide gear ladder stands. The only thing I have done to them is cut a piece of plywood for the seat and bought a cushier pad to sit on. I like them, easy to use, hold up just as good as any other ladder stand. Plus, it beats the hell out of what I used when I started bowhunting, a pallet jammed in the Y of a tree..
