This boy came in silent from behind me at 6:50 this morning. He was in full strut the whole time and went past the blind at 10 feet to check out the Jake decoy. I shot him at 10 yards and he ran past the blind and expired 15 feet away. My first archery turkey, and my first mature bird as well. (I shot a Jake last spring with the shotgun.) Awesome experience! Thanks! I dropped it off at the taxidermist, I think I’ll spend the coin to get a full body mount. After this it’ll take a really special one to get mounted. Thanks! I’m still on a bit of a high lol. One thing that definitely helped was to find a nice flock of birds on a public area that was archery only.
