I just brought a couple older mounts from 08 and 10 to my taxidermist to have cleaned up, re epoxied, etc...
they were done years ago and haven't aged well. He was doing it as a hobby.
They should come back clean and fresh.... repainting the eyes, nose, ears, etc.
1 was a muzzleloader kill and the other a bow kill

Big buck with no rack. Tattered ears. Scars over his left eye.... having a stand-off off with my little dog. Haha I think this is the big wide 8. He could have cared less about the dog. Dog just ran back and forth barking. Buck just stood there half postured watching from 10’ away. It was a riot! The vid is even better

I'm going to try to get out Friday and Saturday morning for a few hours. Definitely hunting Sunday afternoon and maybe Monday morning. Hopefully I can get something before the contest is over. I'll still have a month to hunt after that. My son brought this plywood crate home, looks like be an excellent start for a shooting house. Should be plenty roomy at 4.5'x8'x6'. Going to put it on my son-in-law's 300 acres in Oklahoma. [IMG][IMG]

That should make a great one rb I’m hoping to get something set up for with kids and stuff next year. Hopefully. Wife can do ladder and hang on but if I get my older it’ll be ground or build a box. I have one ladder stand set up to practice and he loves it but for hunting don’t want to get too excited or not pay attention and have an issue.
Good luck out there too. You’ve put in your time and more than earned it, hopefully it comes together

I wish I was still hunting! :( It has been a tough year on Illinois hunters and now DNR is talking about changing the bag limits for next year. We will see where this goes.

You have a link or care to elaborate? Haven't heard of this one yet. Is it IDNR or an introduced bill in the general assembly?

DNR looking to make the first 15 days of October buck only. They want the population to come back up. Maybe they should stop sharp shooting to check for CWD. Let the hunters kill and make it mandatory for the hunters to check in the deer. Fine them if they check a deer in and don't get it checked at a check station. I have never understood why they do that. Let the hunters do it. All this info has been posted on the Illinois Whitetail Alliance Facebook page.

We are rescoring all of our bucks now, looking for missed measurements.

Have a few still hunting, but tough going end of January unless you are in the deep South.

Boot that was my same story a few years ago. I was duck hunting and a big 10 was in front of my stand for 30 minutes. I know the feeling. LOL

I have two does bedded down not 60 yards from me. Hopefully they'll get up and stretch their legs and close the distance. [IMG]
