When the velvet comes off, the groups break up and patterns change, I also notice more nocturnal movement and this is in area with zero hunting pressure.
This happens most every year, Its called the October lull, My opinions on why this happens is----leaves are falling--secure travel routes change and deer need to get comfy with new travel routes, foods change, example, acorns may be gone ! Does now become wary of bucks, So change their movement patterns. You should start seeing a lot of twinkie bucks that have been pushed out by mothers and mature Bucks,
Another theory (credit Dr. Grant Woods) is that by this time of the year deer have for the most part grown their winter coats and if temps. stay warm deer will travel more during cooler night time temps.
The Harvest is underway, I'd be watching for patterns to change as the harvest happens and as they hit the fields to clean up anything left behind.

I just got back 15 minutes ago from checking 8 cams. Can't believe the amount of daytime bucks that are moving. Lots!
