No deer this morning! It was awesome just to be back out there!! So many memories! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well a few updates from CO. Nothing died today, of our doing (more on that in a minute)... Snow this morning getting into camp. Got camp setup. Went out for the evening saw 6 doe mule deer. We watched a marten/weasel take down a rabbit midstride. Rabbit was as big as the weasel. Which was cool to watch.
Well guys, I've hunted hard the past three weekends trying to get one in velvet but the deer just haven't cooperated. I'm up and loaded to head home as I've had enough for one weekend. Season opens in Tennessee Saturday so I'm going to hang around home and hunt behind my house next weekend. That'll let me get caught up on some chores around the house and it'll give my spots here a break.
My season opens two weeks from today I went out and freshened up the mock scrapes today before the storm rolled in and got all my stands ready to go with lifelines attached the only thing I have left to do is go next weekend and check the cameras for one last time when I take the camper and atvs out to the location of deer camp Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Saw 3 moose this morning from about 1.5 miles, and could tell it was a big bull amd 2 cows. We could see his paddles with our naked eye. From the mule deer party, we passed on a doe at about 42 yds and above us on the hill. A heart shot would've landed her at the base of the hill right at the truck. The team hunting elk had a spike at 35yds that they passed on. 0 killed but today was also the end of muzzle loader season and everybody and their grandmother in the woods.
Looks like I'll be heading out for a Friday night in the woods, Saturday morning and possibly Saturday evening sit! Looking forward to it. Currently overloaded with school work, so I have a lot of work to do in order to make it all happen! How's everyone else doing? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hey guys, hope everyone is well. I was fortunate enough to kill a great deer last night and I had my 4yr old in the blind with me. Great footage and should be on an upcoming episode of BHOD. The deer taped out at 147 2/8.
That had to be a fantastic experience having the little one there with you! Congratulations!! That is awesome!
Boom That's a great buck and can't wait to see it on the show Congrats Man!!!! Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
Not yet. Hang in there. Like I said before, I will be hunting in my tiny spot behind my house this weekend. I guess I need to spend a weekend at home here and there. The past few years I've planted a little "kill plot" back there. This year I just never got around to it. I hadn't even been down there until yesterday afternoon when I went to put my Viper on my tree. I guess I didn't really need to plant it. There was enough "volunteer" beans and peas from last year's seed drop that I have pretty good forage and the deer have been hitting it. Plus, it's not been disturbed so the deer should be very relaxed. There are three decent trails through the years worth of growth. I don't think I'll see any buck traffic, but a doe might be possible. Hey, you never know though.
Speaking of buck traffic through my little spot, I've played cat and mouse with this guy the past two years right there on my little 3 acre home spot. He always starts showing up when I'm on my family hunting trip in Missouri. Yeah, 8 November 2015 I was in Missouri getting skunked.
I could be wrong, but I'm guessing he was a 4 year old in 2015 when that video was shot. There have not been any reports of him being killed. If he shows up again this year he should be a real stud. Here's hoping he made it.
I'll be out in the woods this time tomorrow!! I have to bring my son to a 11am DR appt. I hope to be in the woods by 2pm. I'll be in a white oak grove, and ready to kill!!!
Good luck! I hope it's not as hot there as it is here. The heat index driving home at 4:00 was 100. I don't think so...... I'll be back in a tree behind my house Saturday morning.
