So we all know about putting a piece of bicycle inner tube on the LW buckles to help silence them. I think it works great but it only usually lasts me about one season. Anyone out there do anything else that works as good or better but lasts longer?

I use Yak Grips, cut in half. They work great nd I'm going on year 3.

I put camo duct tape on all 4 of my stick buckles and both stand buckles probably around 7 or 8 years ago. It dulls any accidental noise significantly and still has not started to come off. I wrapped the buckles a couple times and just cut a slit around each side of the lever.
My buddy did the same a few years ago and his tape started coming off later that same season. I think the issue is the amount of garbage cheap camo tape that's out there now. I don't remember what brand he used but I do remember it was pretty cheap. If you find a good quality tape and make sure the surface of the buckle is clean it should work very well. I've heard the Yak grips work very well also but I haven't had any issues with my duct tape so I haven't had a need to switch.

I just did them up with friction tape. I did the entire platform/stand with it as well, really helps with sound. It is time consuming.

Has anyone ever tried using a rubberized bed liner product to silence their stuff. I'd imagine it would be easier to apply than using tape. Someone be my guinea pig on this one

Forget the buckle and straps altogether, check this out.

I've made these modifications to my sticks, works great!

I did this mod 2 years ago and love it! I trust the climbing rope a lot more than those thin straps.

So I know REI has the 8mm PMI rope mentioned above and the closest one to me is over an hour out. For those who have done this...options? Any 8mm rope'll do? Sounded like the size was the critical issue.

Thanks for the link. I love everything this guy does. I covered the sticks in stealth strips and it really made a huge difference in sound and feel. I will for sure be trying the ropes but not till next season or if I find time maybe in a few weeks. Actually no I just ordered the yak grips so I need to use them.... or maybe I can just order another set of sticks lol and have both. Where’s that damn credit card!

I didn't the read the whole thread but I am assuming you want to make rope mods for sticks.
The best material is Amsteel ....splice a loop and then your .

I've found it chips off too easy.
