I am in the beginning stages of planning a 2018 turkey hunt somewhere in Nebraska for some Merriams. I am looking to do a Public land DIY hunt and possible camp with a few buddies. If anyone can share any general areas or WMAs that I should start looking that contain decent numbers of birds it would be much appreciated. Right now a 4-5 day hunt would be what I am thinking so I would like to be able to get on some birds fairly quickly. Thanks in advance!

I think your best bet would be up near Chadron, NE. I haven't personally gone up there before, but I have a few friends that have. Its mostly national forest ground, and from what I understand doesn't receive much pressure in archery, but quite a bit during shotgun. Feel free to PM me if you wanna ask any specifics!

Thanks guys, I appreciate the info. I have been looking at the NW corner around the Chadron area. My taxidermist has had a few successful hunts near there but I just haven't had time to pick his brain about it.
