Quick question. Do you leave stands in the woods year round and just re trim lanes, or pull them and start over every year? Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I leave them, but from time to time I might relocate a stand and hunt that location for a year or two. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I leave ladder stands. Just replace the straps every few years and hit rust spots with spray paint in the off season.
Yes. I also will frequently go in with a climber and set up not far from last years stand and catch deer skirting and looking up at the previous years stand. I use a light chain or cable with a turn buckle on my ladder stands.
For ladder stands you may need to loosen them and readjust every few years else the tree starts to grow around them.
Theft risk aside, chains and cables rust, straps rot. Branches can fall and damage the stand, I saw a crushed ladder stand just the other day. Or what if kids climb up and fall out. Not worth the risk. Be safe and take 'em down.
Leave them and just keep them maintained. While adding more. My new thing is adding stainless steel cables and bolting the stand to the tree. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's actually pretty good idea. As for original question, I leave mine out but like others have said replace straps yearly. This yea they gotta come down tho and moved because of new fences goin up on farm for cattle. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk
I hunt private land so I leave them on Government land you have to pull them in Missouri so I use my self-climber on Government land Sent from my AT7-C using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I leave the majority of mine out all year (ladder stands). I am starting to get a couple hang ons and I plan to pull them before winter.
Our ladder stands stay out all year, they get checked twice a year. Early spring when we re clear all our trails and just before season. Lifelines come down after season
Now is the time to move stands for next year if necessary, much easier than in mid-Aug. Leave ladders up, pull hang-ons.
On my private access lands. If it's my crappy even edge stands. I'd leave permanent. My LW it's on and off
I leave mine out all year. However, I do inspect the ratchet straps and I change them when needed. I oil them with DDW Scent free oil to help keep them quiet.
Mine stay out, need to be more diligent about changing the straps Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting.com Forums
