I shoot the NAP Apache now and love it but was thinking about slimming down to a more compact rest and was look at the QAD ultra rest, or a ripcord rest. I wanted to know peoples opinions if they noticed a difference after putting these rests on and just you you like them over all! Also I saw HHA came out with their own fall away rest that supports our vets who come back and struggle with ptsd if any one knows about this rest I would love to hear it! Thanks, Paul B.
Ripcord rest has more internal components and is harder to fix if something goes wrong. I would stick with QAD or the HHA if you're up to trying something new. I can't speak for the rest, but they have great technical support on their sights. Best of luck!
I've shot the QAD Ultra for 3 years now, going on 4, and never had a problem. I would say you can't go wrong with it. Not to take anything away from NAP but I'd recommend the QAD 100%.
I shot Ripcord Code Red rests for several years and they were flawless. They may be a bit more complicated inside, but they have metal internals that are considerably more sturdy than some others of the same type. The past year I have been shooting Trophy Taker XFC rests that activate via the down cable. As simple and foolproof as they come in my estimation. I killed 5 deer with them last season from 70* to the 20's without a hiccup. Quiet, solid, and accurate.
I have a qad hdx on my halon 32 and a limb driver pro v on my carbon defiant and I like both have no issues with either and I've used the hdx for 6 years now.
have used the QAD Ultra HDX for close to a decade and also have a couple of the less expensive QAD Ultra Hunters on backup bows. Have all been flawless. no experience with ripcord
Not sure how "compact" it is but I have a G5 Cmax, limb driven, super easy tuning, and full capture.I love it
I can't speak for any of the rest that you mentioned but you might want to check out the Limbdriver rest.
If a slimmed down, compact rest is what you are looking for on your Halon... The HDX would be perfect. Here is a couple closeup photos of an HDX on my Halon. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
I had a RipCord for a few seasons and one day while hunting I drew my bow and the cable that ties the rest into the bowstring snapped off inside the rest... it appeared to be frayed and it just let go. Went to a WB after that for that season and the following... then I put on my new QAD for this past season and love it.
Check out the Limbdriver Pro-V. They are sweet. I love mine. Limb Driver Pro-V (Mathews ONLY) - Vapor Trail, Inc. Vapor Trail, Inc.
I shoot both the QAD HDX and the Trophy Taker SmackDown and would buy another of either when ever I need a new rest.
I have the QAD HDX on three bows and the Apache Hunter on one bow and love them. I have limited experience with the Ripcord rests but have seen no issues with them. A buddy of mine just put the new mirco-adjust Ripcord on his bow and he seems to like it. The only thing I don't like about it is that if you shoot a fatter diameter arrow it will not fit into the launcher.
NAP Apache Carbon on 3 bows. 1 moving parts 0 issues. I had 3 QAD all with issues. Very loud. Scraping sound raising and lowering. Got to the point that it took a pliers to cock them up. I won't take any chance on a failure. IF I see that monster buck I need to KNOW my equipment will work.....I may never see another monster in my lifetime.
I shot a Ripcord for a few seasons, before it gave out on me. I had a brief moment with Trophy Ridge but it was nothing but problems. I settled on the NAP Apache and it has been servicable. I just purchased an Xpedition Xcentric, and will be putting a Hamskea on it. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
