Just got the Alps Pursuit. Main compartment has a good bit of room. Water bladder compatible. The pouches on the waist belt could be a little bigger. My binoculars won't fit. Thinking of buying a smaller pair or a mono for quick scans. Nice pack. I am happy with the purchase. It carries well and is comfortable.

Kelty Trekker is a solid backpack. Evenly distributes weight. Many, wonderful exterior pockets. Used for a 5-day hiking trip to 3 Yosemite High Sierra camps. Held gear, clothing and food for lunch. The sleeping bag compartment is large but when fully loaded, compresses the upper compartment. Very comfortable and easily adjustable.

I have a Badlands Stealth. It is a great pack for day use.

I bought a used Tenzing 2220 as a daypack at the end of the season. Used it on a 3D shoot so far. Good size main compartment; hip belt pockets are large enough for rangefinder and accessible while wearing; bow/rifle pocket, 3-4 exterior lashing points, stowable rain cover, robust/quiet zippers, reinforced areas. Used price was affordable for me. My budget was around $100. Paid $120, TMD.

Also, considered Alps Outdoorz(X) Pursuit, Badlands Superday, Badlands Diablo, Eberlestock X2, horn hunter G3, game plan gear full curl, game plan gear bow bat (sling style).
