I would take tickets to a hockey game over any other sport. It is ok to watch on tv but like Sota said I usually wait for playoff hockey to watch on tv. On tv I think March Madness is the greatest and NFL just behind that.
The NHL has been ruined by the European influence no more forechecking and fights. I will say this NHL players are by far the toughest professional athletes, next to bull riders.
Agree 100%. My 12-year-old daughter spends every night at hockey practice, usually not getting home till after 9 PM. Weekends are spent traveling around to hockey games and tournaments. During the summer it's the summer hockey league and frequent trips to the Sanford power skating treadmill. Also have a six-year-old who has been playing hockey for three years and I'm A goalie coach. Lots of hockey in our household Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Now that hockey is being televised more, I'll watch it over basketball any day. Sharks made a hell of a run last year and hopefully will again this year. I'm not a die hard or anything but it's much better than hearing whistles blow in the NBA all night long and watching free throws from the "upper class" players.
I'll watch 2 NHL teams I hate play an entire playoff series. Can't say the same for any other sport. It is easier to learn the game watching in person than on TV but HD has really helped with following the puck.
Hockey is like soccer, BORING! Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth and little else. Except in hockey, the players run into each other more than they do in soccer.
not every league can be the NBA lol Yeah hockey has changed a lot over the years but it has become a faster game. Back in the day it was all about being in the right place at the right time and getting lucky, I bet half of Gretzky's goals were off a rebound or from a funny bounce. This is the era of one-timers and dirty backhanders
I enjoy watching it live,on a screen...not so much. I have a bunch of 1st cousins that are into hockey and practice religiously so if we're around I'll typically go watch them play. Its a whole lot more exciting when you know some of the people playing. Basketball blows, I don't know how anybody can watch it. It's like you know what's going to happen every single time.. guys going to dribble the ball stop pass the ball, the guy catches the ball dribbles shoots two points, Then the other team gets the ball guy runs down dribbling passes the ball the guy catches it dribbles it passes that to someone else and he shoots and gets two points. Then the other team gets the ball dribbles it looks for someone then passes to another one, dribbles passes again shoots Misses... then the other team comes up with a ball throws it to a guy cherry picking, he goes and shoots it for two points, now there's drama one team has a two point lead......boring very boring except for the last 20 seconds, but typically in the last 20 seconds what I just described happens. I'm a huge fan of hockey; not so much of Gretzky- he was not the type of player to sit around the crease waiting for a rebound. Quite the opposite; he played in an era of wide-open offense, end to end rushes and action. Guys were regularly scoring 60+ goals and over 120 pts per season. It was in the early-mid 90s that NJ and Detroit developed D schemes that throttled the neutral zone, forcing teams to dump and chase more. The game is slowly opening back up a bit.
Sounds identical to hockey. Except you can see the basketball. I would get just as much enjoyment out of watching the ice freeze.
Would anyone say that football is a boring sport? You have a 3 hour game and the ball is actually in play something like 20 minutes out of those 3 hours.
Its a lot more fun to watch on DVR. You can make it through in about a half hour to 45 minutes. I don't see how guys have the time to spend all weekend watching sports. When do they get anything else done?
I will say football is boring lol 8 seconds of action with 2 minute breaks between each play, Football is human size chess to me and not very interesting.
