Pin size for hunting

Just curious how many people use .10 for hunting and target shooting. I've always used .19 but when shooting at 40+ I always wish I had. 10. I'm wondering from people that have used both, does the. 10 stay visible enough in low light to still shoot. I'm ordering a spot hog fast eddie xl. Any input on spott hogs .10 pin brightness would be helpful. I should add that it will be the spott hog double pin that im ordering. Thanks for any help guys.

From my experience, when trying to aim in low light it becomes being able to see the target not the pin that becomes the problem.

 

I believe I switched all my pins to .10 from .19 this year and loved it. Do not mis the large pins taking up the target. My sight is a low cost truglo. Did not have any challenges with seeing the pins.

 

I have .10. Just make sure you get green, your eye picks it up a lot easier, blue is a no go

 

I use .19, but its all a matter of preference. Personally, anything smaller is too small for me.. I don't need to shoot very far very often, so I don't need that. The larger sometimes blocks out the vitals a bit more.

 

My HHA has a .19 on it. I've never tried the .10. I've had good luck with my current one.

 

My HHA sights have .019 on them and they work really well for me.

No yellow pins since my eyes don't see that color very well at dawn and dusk.

 

.019 here too. I stay away from red pins because I can't see it well.

 

.019 four pins, 3 green with 1 red marking 20 yards. At my age not sure I could focus on anything smaller.

 

.019 for me also. However, I get quite a bit of halo on my Spot Hogg wrapped sight in low light. Its almost too bright. May look into trying .010 pins to see if it cuts down on the halo issue or cover up the wrapped fiber.

 

Spot Hogg .10 seven pin, I like the smaller pin diameter, especially at shots beyond 20 yards and in low light conditions. I had larger pins in the past that were so bright they obscured my sight picture in low light situations. Ultimately this is going to boil down to personal preference, so try and find someone with a sight you can try.

I'm going to try .10 this time. I'll never know unless I try and there's plenty of time until hunting season to see if I like it or not. Also I can just buy a .19 head from spot hog if I don't like the .10 and keep the .10 for 3d

.019 for me. I've always felt like .010 just doesn't pick up enough light in hunting situations. And with the vast majority of my shots 30 yards and under it's never been an issue.

 

I currently have a site with .019 pins and really like it. My vision isn't good and I wear glasses which makes my pins fuzz up when focusing on the target, so I was thinking of trying the smaller pins but haven't yet. I do have a verifier now and that has helped alot.

I'm swapping my sight to .010 pins as even at 30 yards I find that .19 pins are too big.

 

I use .19 all the time

 

I switched to .10 2 years ago and find it easer to find and hold on the target. Mine is purely a hunting setup. No issues with low light.

 

I'd like to switch to .01 to help me aim smaller and give me less "haloing" of the pin.
