You're allowed to have your opinions, even if they are wrong. Squirrell is #1. That's why the good lord made them so small so we wouldn't get all glutenous.
Oh I will eat squirrel I like to take them out with a stone cold stunner then dump a few budwisers over their head.
Boil it first then grill it to char it and get the smokey flavor. Just have to be careful not to over boil it so it falls off the bones.
Seriously, I just barfed a little. Don't get me wrong; in a post-apocalyptic situation, I'll go Gordon Ramsey on some rodents. But until then... bon appetit boys! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I completely get it. Unfortunately I grew up dirt poor and we lived off the land. Deer, turkey, rabbit, squirrel, sometimes turtle etc was on the menu. It was meat and within the budget. Didn't even know what a McDonalds was till I was 16. All in how you grew up I guess.
Nothing wrong with eating rodents as long as they're in the right subgroup of the species. People make the mistake of liking squirrel to rats because they are both rodents but the suborder makes a difference. Squirrels are in the suborder Sciuromorpha while rats are in the suborder Myomorpha. The ones in the Myomorpha suborder are generally pretty nasty little critters. Squirrels are pretty damn clean.
Omg! I love watching hunting shows (and Andrew Zimmern) and I LOVE the recipes! My mouth is watering! I love stews and casseroles. My ex- bf and I used to make EVERYTHING from elk, wild turkey, Canada goose and deer. I'm half Italian & half Irish, and I made everything from meatballs to medallions to tender goose breast...know how we did it? We aged nothing, butchered everything immediately and made good use of olive oil, bacon and spices! No one knew I was serving them hunter's buffet until after they asked me for the recipe. Since I can't hunt anymore, I've offered hunters in my area to pay their deer tags if one could get me a dear. No one is taking the bait lol! I guess I'll never eat that good again, but I Love reading about yours! Sent from my SM-N920V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
