What do guys generally do if you bump some deer while walking to your spot? I just jumped some walking to mine. I'm in my stand now but do you think I will still see anything?

Is that the only deer in your woods?

Just because you bump one doesn't mean that others won't come through especially if you are hunting over a good food source.

I guess you jumped them in the dark going in. If they blew at you then just keep walking and grunt and bleat a few times. If you just heard something run then keep walking and grunt or bleat while you go to the stand. Keep the other deer guessing what was wrong with the deer that blew or ran off. I also always grunt a few times once I am setup in my stand. That way if anything heard me and was on alert they would just think it was another deer.

I have often jumped deer going to my stand. I just continue sneaking in and most of the time they actually come back. Definetely don't be discouraged.

I have killed deer within 20
Minutes of bumping other deer. Play the wind right and it is not a big deal.

Deer seeing you, not the biggest deal. Deer smelling you, bigger deal. On the farm I hunt I probably bump deer on the way in 75% of the time, but that is a different setting. I always try pick a set that I can get to without being winded. The big public tracts in Northern WI that I used to hunt the deer don't see or smell people very often so I believe it has a larger negative effect.

Probably spooking more deer playing on your phone. At least there are deer in the area.... if you are kicking them up out of their bed I would chose a different path to stand.

Agree 100%. Playing on your phone while deer hunting just plain don't work. You can't play on your phone and watch for deer any more than you can safely play on your phone and drive. I have my phone with me in case I need to use it but it stays off till I am on my way out. My opinion only.

Thanks for all your help guys. I didn't see anything the rest of the day but I am going to try and go to my stand a different way next time. And I'm sorry but I don't think moving my thumb against my phone up in a tree stand for 5 minutes to get some opinions on this site spooked the deer more than the sound of me walking in lol. I agree that I won't be able to watch deer while I'm on my phone, but I really don't think it spooked the deer more than the sound of me walking.
