Best mid priced bow

I am looking to buy a new bow between 400 to 700 rts. My current bow is 29.5 inch draw length and 65lbs draw weight. Anything new will be an upgrade to my current bow. Right now my leading contenders are the Hoyt Powermax or Mission hype dt or dtx. I am open to suggestions. I prefer a bow i can learn to work on myself. Thanks for the help

 

I just bought a Quest Amp for right around $450 it was on sale but still it's normally 699. Nice looking and shooting bow. I shoot 28 and 70 and it shoots very fast, shoots like a speed bow if you like that, it's worth looking at even if it's not for you.

I think the Hoyt Powermax would be a good buy for the price range you're looking at. A little more could put you in the new Bear lineup too. Its more about the feel than the brand. Shoot first, then buy. Stay away from purchasing online if this is your first new bow in a while. Get to your nearest archery shop and shoot, shoot, shoot.

 

Go out and shoot some. I picked up a lightly used Elite 32 in your price range before last season, love the thing!

 

This will be my first purchase of a bow in a long time. I am currently shooting a 1996 PSE Nova

 

I would go with like a used Mathews htr, Mathews creed/chill, Hoyt faktor, or Hoyt nitrum. Should be able to find all the at 700 or under

 

why not buy a gently used 2016 flagship bow? Would probably come in under 700.

Sounds to me that what ever bow you buy you are going to hold on to for a long time so the best thing for you to do is go to a pro shop and shoot as many bows that fall in your price range. You may be surprised what bow you decide on!! I would hate to see you buy one with out shooting it because it was a good deal but you don't enjoy shooting it! Good luck in your search!

 

I bought a Hoyt Charger right before they replaced them with the Powermax. I haven't shot the Powermax, but if it is like my Charger that would be the best bet. Hoyt's warranty can't be beat and it was the smoothest drawing bow in the price range that I could find.

I have a powermax and I absolutely love it. Like you I wanted to stay in that price range and for the money I couldn't have asked for anything better. I find it incredibly smooth for the price point and is consistent. I had no problem dialing in field tips, mechanical and fixed broadheads. I try not to be a fan boy of any particular brand but I will say I have had a great experience with my hoyt! But in the end like everyone else said it's all about what is comfortably for you so definitely shoot them first but for a ready to hunt package mid priced bow I'd say the powermax should deliver everything you want! My "flagship bow" is a Bear Domain. I like it a lot. I have some Hoyts too - they're always good quality. I think Mathews are usually really good too. I buy all my bows on ebay. ebay and Paypal give you security - if the bow is damaged or different than advertised, you can send it back for a refund.
