between MN/ND. calling across the Red River can be a HOOT.
usually hit the river 2-3 times a year as acsess is limited due to "usually" deep snow.
    find the deer/find the coyotes.
ended up killing 4 coyotes today. fun day for sure.

can't see it in the pic but just 10-15 feet to his left was a MAJOR deer trail coming across the river ice. she came down the trail till she was about 10-15 yards onto the ice and started going to the downwind side.
figgered i best dump her before she hit my wind.
she was a perty darn nice coyote for this area. and, she was almost burr-free which is almost impossible for our river bottom coyotes.

Love seeing a coyote "taking a nap" in the snow!

What call are you using this time of year? Cottontail, deer, squirrel, turkey distress, etc? I have a FoxPro HellFire and have only called in one that I know of. I don't know anyone that hunts coyotes so I don't have anyone to go to for advice so anything that you have to offer would be great. Thanks

    bigphil.
i use a variety of sounds and have called in/killed 100's of coyotes.
i'm really not sure thier is a certain sound that works any better than another.
any distress sound can bring them in from rabbit too woodpecker.
coyotes are coyotes and need to kill to eat. just keep trying.
i travel 1000's of miles a year to MT/ND/SD and the coyotes there just seem to respond better than MN coyotes. i don't think its anything more than there is just more coyotes to here the call.
ALWAYS watch the wind and make sure you have a good path to shoot downwind as a good majority of older coyotes will go there.
    good luck sir
