For those of you that use or have used lizard skin bat wrap on your bow, what thickness did you use? I was thinking of using the .5mm to not add any bulk to my grip.
It's a wrap made for bats, it's really sticking and reliable and used for a lot of things. Not sure why it's used on a bow? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have heard of many people using Lizard Skin on their grips to get them the way they like. I have an Elite that I have always had some issues with having a consistent grip with. My now back up bow has a nice rubber grip that I could repeat the same consistent grip with. My Elite came with wood side plates which felt a bit too thin in my hand so I bought their full wood grip which made it feel much better in my hand but it feels too slippery to me (maybe it's because I am so used to the rubber grip) so I was going to give the Lizard Skin a try to see if that helps.
Never used lizards skins on a baseball bat but have used it for years on my bicycle handlebars. Very good tape. Don't know why it wouldn't work on a bow grip but it would definitely add thickness.
I would't want anything sticky on my grip because I don't grip my grip. I like it to settle into the notch between my thumb and palm.
I have never handled it myself, so I don't know how sticky it really is. I have just heard of many people using it online. I thought of giving it a shot because it's not a tape, if I don't like it, I can remove it with out it leaving an adhesive residue. I don't grip my grip either. I have a relaxed hand and don't wrap my fingers around the bow.
I'm not familiar with it either. I do know the last thing I want on my bow grip is anything textured or sticky. Regardless of how you grip the bow ideally you want that area as "friction free" as possible. The slightest pressure from the heel of your hand exagerrated by a textured or "sticky" surface will likely induce torque. IMO

Thanks for all the input, every one. Maybe I will skip it. I am just struggling keeping a consistent grip with this Elite. My hand seems like it moves from the start of the draw to anchoring and holding being the wood grip is so slick. Maybe I need to try a different grip. Right now I have a low wrist grip. Maybe I need to try a medium. I don't know but I know I am sure used to the non slip of a rubber grip.
I put Lizard skin on my softball bat last year and I love it for a bat. It has great grip, but it isn't sticky at all. I never thought about putting it on my bow but I can definitely see it being an option for those who wrap or do something custom to their grip so it is warmer on those cold days. If you are going to try I would probably recommend the thinnest unless you are trying to build up some part of the grip.
