So today was my first shot at a doe with a compound bow. Im 15 draw 41 lbs. Straight broadside shot. Hit her 3-5 inches behind the shoulder. Very little blood. ritz cracker size at most for 25 yards. A lot of pindrop blood specks. We saw were she tore through the woods and followed it a bit. no blood after 25-30 yards. It was dark red blood and a tiny bit lighter at some spots. Waiting till the morning. We didn't hear a crash because from the blind at first everything looked great till I replayed the shot in my head and realized it was back. I know its not a giant buck or anything, but its my first compound bow deer. I feel like crap. Thoughts anyone?
Was she traveling up hill most of the way? Reason I ask is I hit one high and only got one lung and little blood until she turned down hill.
Well my son pulls around 50 pounds and he hit a doe in the guts he was shooting a rage 2 blade there was a decent amount of blood but it is cold enough everywhere just leave be and look in the morning. That's what we did and found her in 30 min
Even if you don't find it it sucks but its bowhunting it happens to everyone but I really hope you find it
Sounds like a liver hit, given the dark blood. You did right in backing out. I hope you didn't jump her while following at first. If liver hit, they bed down fast but it can take time to die. If not bumped, you'll usually find a liver hit deer the next day close by. Best of luck!
I was surprised how much just a little blood shows up after a frost. It sucks but rest up and hit it in the morning.
It takes a little bit for the blood to start pouring out, especially on a high hit. I bet you'll pick up the blood trail tomorrow and find her. Just take your time, keep track of the path she took, if you lose the blood trail you can still track based on the direction she was going and by tracks on the ground. Good luck man! It happens, take your time tracking and keep a positive attitude an injured deer will take the path of least resistance.

If you didn't follow her right after you shot very far she probably bedded down within 100 yards. Wouldn't worry too much about it.
