Ok, let me start by saying I am not trying to start a broadhead debate I have shot the original Rage 2" 2 blade for many years. I had to replace them this year, but noticed the head is not made the same and the blade retainer is not the same. I have not shot them yet, just wondering if any of you noticed that they shoot different than the originals?
Simple answer from me.... I've never shot Rage so I can't comment and will leave at that. Although I wouldn't think there is much difference from old to new.
Do you have picture? Unfortunately there are a lot of copy cats out there but for the most part the only thing to be sure is to shoot them out of your setup. In theory they should not fly any different but you know how that goes.
No, I don't have a pic. I bought them at Cabelas so I assume they are not knock offs. The blades are the same and the practice head is the same. The head itself used to have 4 flat spots on it, Now it does not. They also used to use a rubber ring to hold the blades in place, not it uses a harder plastic collar. I'll shoot them before I take them out. I shot the practice head but it is the same as the originals.
I know it sucks to have to shoot a good broadhead, especially an expensive one, but the proof is in the pudding. Good luck.
A hunting buddy of mine has both types in his quiver and said that there is no difference in how they shoot. He was told that they changed the retainer ring because there were so many complaints of the blades opening in the quiver and while just walking through the woods. I tried the old version a few years back and that was the problem I was having so I sold them and have not shot Rage since. If you are happy with them and your bow shoots them good then I would keep them. You need to have confidence in your equipment because if you don't those bad thoughts will always be in your head while hunting.
if they give you a practice head shoot it and see if there is a difference. Or take 1 shot with the real deal. 1 shot isnt going to kill your broadhead plus you still have 2 more brand new ones, and i would rather be sure they shot true instead of it costing me a deer

The original Rage 2 blade broadhead used a rubber O-ring. It has since been revised and now has a Sock collar for better blade retention. I have shot nearly all Rage broadheads since they hit the market. The newer Rage 2 blade performs the same, if not better than the original. The shock collar keeps them from open in the quiver. So you can expect them to perform as well as the originals have for you.
