Bow hunted during gun season a great deal the last 15 years but this year it was a turkey with the bow and a buck with the rifle. have some of my great-grandfathers bullet molds from the 1800s and might break them out and do some blackpowder after archery next year. bow hunting is still the favorite but now at 65 will take my hunting any way it comes.
Scott that's my fear a buck being 50 yards and out and I'm standing there with my stick and string in hand but other than that I love shooting the bow
PA gun season starts monday. I wont be hunting because i already filled my buck tag and the first week of rifle we cant hunt does in my area. I will probably take my rifle that first saturday just because there will be so much pressure and the deer will just be running so i dont feel like i would get a good shot with a bow. if i can make it out during the week when hunter pressure is down due to most hunters working during the week i will take my bow
I have been doing it for 7 years now. I hate the hunters that run dogs illegally on our property. It screws up everything. You see less deer, but sometimes the deer move to our property because there is no gun pressure.
This year will be my first hunting with a bow during rifle season here in PA. In my case houses are too close to hunt with a gun.
Im actually debating taking out a rifle before this season is up. I have a marlin 38/55 that was made in 1893 that im dying to take a deer with. Maybe itll be this year. Maybe not. I mean bowhunting is life, right? Haha
best of success on your hunt. would be great to take a deer with a 120+ year old gun and that old blackpowder cartridge.
I hunt with my bow a lot during gun season, or I just sit it out completely. Especially if I don't need the meat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
