Not sure what to expect, weather is going to be nice and crisp cold air. Rut was later in my area than normal so I'm hoping there is still some movement going on. Our land wasn't gun hunted, the land owner to south, not gun hunted, the several hundred acres of timber to the north of us not gun hunted. This makes me hopeful that some of the bigger deer are still there and not spooked by the big orange army. Anyone else going out this weekend? Thoughts on rut timing/movement
I'm thinking about hunting Thanksgiving day, but depends on the temps. Deer would have to hold for 24 hours, currently the temp is forecast to be 48 for the high with low of 35. It might be manageable with a few bags of ice. If not I may go out Saturday. Looking to put one more in the freezer and I'll be done for myself. May try for another for the family, but probably would only be if it snows, haven't had a good snowmhunt in a few years.
i don't know how much to trust some of these forecasts for example right now if you look up Elmo MO, it is 30 degrees, but the low for the forecast today is 41 I guess either way that'd be colder than what I have been hunting for far this year
I'll be hunting with my bow Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Ohio. The gun season comes in on Monday. I'm hoping to have my buck tag filled by then.
I think the second youth gun season in Missouri is that weekend, so I'll have to take my orange, but it normally goes back in the pack once I climb in the tree. shhhh don't tell
I'll be out trying to get another doe, temps are finally good for hunting so I'll be out Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I might hunt Friday with the bow. Our muzzleloader season opens Saturday, so I will be out all weekend with the smoke pole.
I will be out trying to put a doe down over the weekend when I am not attending family events. I hope there is still snow!!
Happily, I am hunting this weekend, and there is nothing I would rather do. Sadly, I am hunting this weekend, cuz I screwed up at least 2 chip shots at does earlier, and still have a tag to fill. I will probably try to get a pheasant or duck or goose too.
I have punched many tags on thanksgiving weekend in the past & will be out this year. Hopefully history repeats itself! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I will be out with my brother. It's the last weekend of firearms season in Indiana. I'm hoping to get it done with my bow but I'll have my muzzleloader on standby. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I'm still after it. Tomorrow will be the end of 13 straight days, but I'll only have to take a 1 day break before going after it 5 of the next 7. I've been seeing excellent buck movement, just hope all the hours in the stand pays off eventually. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
I'll be hunting Friday through Sunday never done a Thanksgiving weekend hunt, usually hang up the bow after first shotgun season.
I'll be hunting starting tomorrow afternoon all the way through. More time off work and nothing else to really do ha Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk
well some strange things happened recently for me, I'll be starting a new job next Monday so I'll no longer be hunting that Monday, but I'll still hunt Friday Saturday and Sunday morning home office, we'll see how that goes....
I filled my buck tag earlier in archery season. So Pennsylvania's gun season starts Monday but i can't hunt until the following saturday when doe come back in. so tomorrow morning and Saturday morning i heading out for turkey instead. turkey comes back in for 3 days then its done til spring. good luck to everyone hunting this weekend.
What says you guys? 47 degrees and cloudy isbthe foeecast tomorrow, tomorrow night dropping down to 35. Problem is, processor isn't open until 9am Friday morning. If I were to be successful I would likely have one down by 10am. Currently don't have room in the fridge to quarter it up, don't have time to process it myself until Friday as well so no different than processor scenario. I can get 100lbs of ice for $10, could tarp the bed of the truck and cover it in ice...... Really want to hunt tomorrow, but having a hard time convincing myself to do it.
