For next season. Any input? I was upwind of a nice buck about 100 yards away, but couldn't call or rattle him in. I did bring in a 2.5 year old who gave me a snort and ran away. Would a doe decoy help get that buck closer? Any luck with them? Are they worth the effort of carrying in & out a half mile or so each hunting trip? I spot and stalk so I sit outside and would have to transport the decoy daily, so easy portability is a key for me with a decoy. Although, I may go the portable blind route next year.
Need? No. Want, sure. Its a great addition to the bag of tricks. We use ours a lot. We hunt with a group of guys across the state that use them with great results. We dont need them but we really get a lot of use out of them and positive results. Use a buck decoy that has removable antlers and you get 2 for 1. We find doe decoys scare does and dont attract bucks so we dont use a doe decoy. We use only one side of the rack on the boss buck decoy we use. We also have a electric swishing tail that adds realism and calms deer down. This is one encounter from a little over a week ago.
