I'm looking to get a set of fmjs and am unsure of the size to get, the 4, 5 or 6 mm diameters. I shoot at 60lbs with a 100g shwacker. Any suggestions or thoughts? Besides the obvious size differences, is one size better than the others? I hunt white tail primarily. Thanks
I shoot 400 FMJ's out of my Mathews but unsure what size that would be with the 4,5 or 6mm diameter FMJ's. My bow is set at 60 lbs and shoot 100g Ramcats.
The smaller diameter arrows tend to get better penetration because they are smaller, yet carry more weight than a traditional carbon shaft. They also drift less in the wind on longer shots.
I shoot 340 spline out of my chill. They are just the standered shalf size. I think the smaller the diameter of arrow they go an outsert, which I am not a big fan off. Not sure what broad heads you shoot, but they gotta be able to go with the deep six smaller shalfs arrows. I didn't like any of the broad heads that would fit with the smaller shalfs so I just stuck with the regular ones and like them very much. They shot great with my bow and with my g5 strikers.
this yr i shot the easton axis in 6mm and loved it. I dont see a big difference between 4 and 6 mm i think its more important to get the correct spine for you setup
Good question. I'm almost out of my Carbon Express arrows and have a few FMJ's that fly pretty well, but they are smaller in diameter so I can't use the Nocturnal s that I currently have. I need to start my research to determine my next dozen arrows.
