I've looked it up in the regs, but just want to double check. Can I hunt with my bow during gun season (with a gun license of course) even though I don't have any archery tags left? So, for example I filled my buck tag this archery season, would buying a gun license allow me to shoot another buck with my bow during the 9 day season? Thanks for the help.

The answer is yes the tag is not weapon specific anymore.

Yes. You are fine with your bow and gun tag. Dress warm The forecast for the middle of the state is 24 MPH winds and 29F. thats a 14F windchill and no snow.

Happy about this news. I think lots of deer will survive for next bow season due to this. Poor weather for the opener and a mild winter will go a long way to better bowhunting in the future.

Yeah im not too thrilled with the 25mph wind that they are calling for. especially in a tree...with a bow.

Not sure the weather is a good thing if you want a poor rifle season kill. The big change in weather from Friday through midday Saturday has a good chance of getting the deer moving.

Remember even with bow, you must wear your blaze PINK, or orange if you prefer.

HAHA couldn't agree more with you. Definitely think it'll get them up on their feet regardless of the wind. They'll move at some point during daylight...

I think if it's cold weather more gun hunters can't sit too long and will get out of their stand and push deer around without even realizing it. Whatever weapon you are using if you can outlast the other guy on stand I think your odds go up on tagging a deer.

Us Wisconsin people are tough when it comes to the weather! I can't vouch for those boys from Illinois's who come up Nort by us. :poke:

Just so I understand correctly. I can use my bow during the gun season and tag a buck with the gun tag. (During the 9 day gun season and muzzleloader season that follows). Once Muzzleloader season is closed then I can no longer use my gun buck tag to tag a buck with a bow when its just archery season again till January?

Valid in any DMU statewide for harvesting one buck deer with a firearm, muzzleloader, bow and
arrow or crossbow during any firearm deer season except it is not valid during any antlerless only
season. See pages 9–11 for military and disabled hunter exceptions.

    Bow Buck Carcass Tag
Valid in any DMU statewide for harvesting one buck deer with an archer or crossbow license
during an open archery or crossbow season, except it is not valid in any DMU where an antlerless only
hunt is taking place. This tag is valid for tagging a buck in DMUs not offering the Holiday
Hunt. This tag is weapon-specific and may not be filled with a deer harvested with a firearm.

Correct. Gun Buck carcass tag is only valid during gun and muzzleloader season. You can use your bow to fill that tag during either of those seasons. Outside of Muzzleloader or the 9 day gun deer. you must have a valid Archery Buck carcass tag in order to legally shoot a buck.
