Poured here this morning did a few things around the house and came out soon as it stopped raining in a new tree today
Already had a small buck come in at 47 yards
Temps are dropping and pressure is rising could be a great day

Tomorrows wind is good for where I want to sit, Saturday is a bit troublesome with a west wind. If I'm the only one hunting I have a stand in mind, about 3/4 of a mile walk so have to get there early.

Trying to think of ways to fool hound noses  If I can just throw them off my trail I'll be good to go, but they always trail me most the way to stand.

Not a jerk by any means, he locks them up but they are like my dog, little houdinis that can get out of anything. Last year was frustrating, but knowing it heading in this year not as bad.

Come on, pick up some cheap fencing and lock em in.
I had a great spot years ago destroyed by a few loose dogs. Didn't know whose they were and couldn't do anything about it. When they finally disappeared, it took 2-3 years for that spot to recover.

Well we didnt see anything this morning. On a brighter note though, my little brother took his girlfriend and she got her first deer ever. Made a good shot on what looks to be a 3.5 year old 7 pointer and he only made it 80 yards. And it was on the 50 acres that we bought no less. I'm super excited for her.

Sitting til 2:00. Then a small scouting trip out in front of me. From this stand and my other stand .25 mi down the ridge the deer are coming and going to a draw to bed. Going to try to move this stand closer to put the squeeze on. I think they have been slipping through out of sight. Plus i would think the bucks will routinely checkthat draw for does. With next week being our last week i dont have much time to spare.

Small fork came in around 11 and milled around. Walked to 2-3 yards of my tree and off behind me. Good to know my scent free regimen is working.

Looking forward to getting back into the stand this evening. A decent temp drop today compared to the last week and a north wind. Tonight will only be the second time I've set in this stand. It's right up close to several bucks bedding areas and this is the wind I need to get in there. Might try tickling the horns a little bit, getting pics of bucks cruising more and have young bucks chasing. We'll see what happens but just excited to get back into the woods!!

Decided to change spots moved about 800 yards west right next to old access road that's heavily traveled
Temps keep dropping so they should start moving

Just had a black cat run out in front of me and sniff a mock scrape... probably means bad luck rest of the season
