Anyone heard from kern06 since his trip to South Dakota? Figured he would've posted something about it when he got back a week ago...

Sorry guys I'll get my buck posted as soon as possible. Got right back after it when I got to MN. In a tree as I type this. Have it scored but the scoring breakdown is at home and I've been hunting at my cabin. I'll try to get it sent to me tonight so I can upload it

Firearm season opens in MN tomorrow which means things are about to get insanely difficult. I'll be out with my stick and string of course but once the boomsticks come out deer that were already hard to see seem to disappear completely. Then again this time of the year you never know what can happen. Hope everyone is getting some serious tree time in! It's the best time of year!

I was out Tuesday morning until the storms rolled in. The small bucks were responding well to rattling. I rattled at 7am & had a small 8 come in to 45yds, rattled at 7:30 & had a 4pt come in to 10yds, Rattled at 7:50 & had a smaller 4pt come to 20yds. Rattled at 8:10 & a 6pt that was as wide as his ears came in to 25yds. Started pouring rain at 8:45.

If i can wake up I'm going out in the morning.

well this weekend sucked for hunting besides taking my boy out. I got sick in the Saturday morning when it was perfect out drank to many beers the night before. Then went out Saturday night and Sunday morning with no deer sightings. is it me or does this rut suck. congrats kern on the buck

I seen a lot of young bucks putting their rut on this past weekend but nothing that tickled my fancy.
Be back at it Monday afternoon.

He was following a doe and two fawns. Shot was a little back. Ended up center punching the liver. Must have waited long enough because we found him dead in where he laid about 100 yards from the shot. Don't mind the blaze orange

Unless something changes you'd be wasting your time in our stands! No one has seen a deer in 2 days.
The other guy on the property missed a giant Tuesday evening & its been dead since then.
