Ditto, bro! Until Nov. 13th, but I gotta come back into town for Election Day and Veterans Day... but a public land beast is gonna die sometime in that frame!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have about the same days as you, but I have to work the 14th on an assignment, then back to the woods for a couple of days. Lets put down a pig!
YESSS!!! And a funny side-note: Our new lieutenant (post commander) started yesterday.. he has to be the only man in the division that spends more time in the woods than I do. Needless to say, we get along perfectly! Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That is awesome! My LT called me last night and asked where we could meet. I was like ut oh, I'm in trouble. He pulls up and hands me his phone. Has a pic of a nice 120ish 8 point he took while he was driving around.....felt much better. Lol.
Hey everyone. New to this board and I really like this public land thread. I'll be hunting hard Saturday through Tuesday. Being just north of the twin cities, public land hunting can be tough. Over the years I've watched large troves of small game hunters stomp through just about every out of the way area I could find that could produce deer. Just putting meat in the freezer is challenging but I get it done every year with a couple does. This season is it! I have found a great area with little pressure and lots of deer with at least 2 really nice 8 pointers. They're still coming by at night but lots of smaller bucks and does moving through the day right now. Great funnel! Hope to get a shot at one of these guys in the next week or so. For all the years I've hunted, I have yet to bring down anything over 2 years old let alone with antlers. I'll keep folks updated!
Some how I've completely overlooked this thread. Been hunting public land all season so far this year. Filled the freezer with 2 does already from the same parcel. Got one of the kills on video. Now I'm on the archery only area and after a good buck. Doe I killed on my birthday. Buck I'm going after on public land this season.
I'm going to take my old climber into my public land Friday for a adventure. Just hoping to see deer.
Well.....since I am tagged out buck wise in Indiana.....should anyone reading this hail from KY...private message me. I've done some aerial scouting of some public land down there...any pointers or assistance be appreciated as I think I may give it a go.
Hunt public land in Kansas and last week took two does from the same stand. Been really warm but cameras on scrapes picking up more movement. I need to make a cart to haul stands in and haul deer out. One place has a road through about 5,000 acres and lots of food plots in the middle. It is flat and smooth just need to get a mile and half back in to a very good spot. It is all "Walk-in" so have to park on the edge and hoof it from there.
The new public land spot I found last summer is still a mystery to me. I have much to learn about the area for sure! I have trailcam pics of several good bucks over the summer, but most have disappeared. Many does are still on cam so I'm hoping they will show up soon. This is a new buck that I have a pic of lately.
Not with a bow, but I finished my buck hunting this year with another mature public land buck Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
Nice job OK. I'm heading into a pretty good spot tomorrow morning. Temps will drop 20 degrees from sundown to sunup tomorrow morning. High of 60 degrees with a good north wind.
Thanks! That's how I do it. And from the ground, from about 35 yards. Hunting like that gets me more amped up than bowhunting from a tree stand by far Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
