Figured I'd get the ball rolling so everyone can get subscribed! I'll being doing this on every outing I do to report the rutting activity I see in the spots I hunt. UPDATES FROM ALL ACROSS THE STATE ARE APPRECIATED!
In LaX and Vernon Counties where I hunt I have see a lot of scrapes along fields and rubs in areas leading to feed sources. In one area I just move 3 cameras over scrapes but kept cameras in the other area over a pond and food source. I think the amount of sign is based on if there is competition between bucks in the areas. All this sign leads be to believe there area few bucks around the areas I hunt. I will pull card in a week or so and try to remember to do another update. Good Luck and be safe.
Little bucks are being pain in the butt. Chasing does all around the fields. Dodge Co Scrapes are becoming active with big bucks!
I had a decent sized 6 pointer chasing a doe in Trempealeau county on Saturday the 14th during the evening hunt. I am seeing scrapes all along the field edge heading into my stand. I also have this bruiser hanging around. Looks like things are definitely heating up in my area.
Not much in the big woods with no agriculture or oak trees around me, no buck sign anywhere, few does and fawns around, ZERO rubs or scrapes. This is nothing new where I hunt in wolf country. Tracks and droppings are a highlight if you see them even.
Scrapes are showing up on schedule and bucks are starting to sport bigger necks. It's starting to get fun. This guy was checking out local does. No bait around this deep woods site. This is a funnel that turns on for the rut.
Slow for now Only hunted Saturday evening this weekend. Didnt see anything, pretty warm so i was not too surprised by that. Did see a scrape that was not there a week ago. Set a camera on it so we will see what shows up. Had a big 11 point (150" or so) at the same spot last year and did get a siting of him in late January so i know he at least made it through the hunting seasons. Here is a pic i got of him at the scrape last year. I had a video but taking forever to upload so i just paused it a took a pic with my phone. Sorry not the best pic but has a split G2 on his right side.
Oneida Co. as of 10/26 was still seeing fawns hanging around with Mama. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
