In east TN those are big deer. I couldn't pass on any of those. Gotta be nice to live in a area where you can pass deer like those. Sent from my USCC-C6721 using Tapatalk
And I'm up a tree for the first time this year. Its a little warm with a front moving in. Sent from my USCC-C6721 using Tapatalk
This guy walked tonight. He stood at 20 yards tempting me. With bow in hand I told myself not to draw or it would be over. I am after this guy.
I can see the other one is bigger, but if it was me I don't think I could've stopped my hand from pulling my bow on that one. You my friend have very good resistance. Good luck chasing him. Sent from my USCC-C6721 using Tapatalk
I believe it, but in east tn you pass deer like that 99% of the time you'll never see them again. I would love to live in a place where I could pass 3 year olds up. If I did that I wouldn't kill a buck, but about every 5-6 years and that's not happening so I live by the rule of if I think its 3 or older its dead if I got shot. Sat last 3 evenings, nothing moving save a young button buck, still great to be out there. Sign is slowly picking up in my area and the does are hammering the greens so I suspect in a week or so there may be some serious chances at bucks circling the edges.
I've only been out 4 times this whole season so far. While I've been busy, I purposfully have been holding off hunting much early on. That's all going to change soon. Starting this weekend, the gloves are coming off!
Yeah I'm either at 4 or 5...can't remember have to check. Haven't hunted any high percentage spots, except maybe one could consider Saturday night one but very much observational stand too. Good luck brother...oh and fyi finally watched the Elk hunt you shot of Todd, some of the best footage BHOD has ever had. Seriously....
Oh yeah, I did slip an arrow less than an inch from a turkey (cut a feather in half) last night. Came in on me unknown to me and I had like 4 seconds to grab draw and shoot...elevation was perfect but just missed infront of him. Oh well, was fun.
No, I need to get a camera arm first...waiting for a bonus check to justify spending anything. Probably going to grab the one from Hawk, for a couple reasons. It won't be a top of the line one, but will allow me to dabble with it some and down the road be one I can use as a secondary angle for interviews or even leave up a tree...if I end up loving it I no doubt will end up with a higher end one. The fluid head is vastly more important to me and been researching some of them so I don't regret that decision. (I do have the epic cam set up on one stand at home property but left the mount up the tree or I'd have had it last night.) Funny you say that though because I got to thinking I think stand hunting for turkeys in the Spring might be a PERFECT chance to practice filming hunts. This river-bottom property serious has turkeys on it EVERY single day. They utilize the 70 foot ridge line to fly off of and roost in the oaks down in the bottom which tops are pretty much straight over from ridge. I've only hunted there one time without a turkey sighting in 5 years.
Any of you guys ask Masterhunter a question yet? Heading into the woods this afternoon. I am not looking forward to hunting in this heat but I am hoping I get lucky!!
Going to sit over my food plot tomorrow afternoon for my first sit of the year. Been really busy with work and family. Also didn't to over pressure the area. Can't wait to get into the woods!
Go get 'em all. I am planning on being in a stand all weekend, or until I drop something, whatever comes first. I had a great sit last Thursday afternoon. Had a dozen deer come out into my field opening, BUT it was about 20 minutes before legal light was up, and they took their sweet time coming towards me. Got stranded in the stand, tried to make every noise possible except sounding like a human, which didn't work. I finally ran them off when i stepped close to 7 or 8 yards from the closest 1. Great experience!
Well I took off this past Friday and hunted hard the last three days. I saw a lot of does and small bucks. Starting to see small bucks moving quite a bit and actually had a couple fighting in one of our fields one morning. Got a couple decent bucks showing up on camera during the night so hopefully they will start moving during the day.
