Anyone getting out this weekend? My wife is out of town so I am on Daddy duty all weekend. Wishing I had called in sick today. High of 66 and rain all morning clearing out this after lunch. Tonight should be dynamite and I am stuck in the office.
I'll be out Saturday. My season still hasn't really started. I've been trying to stay off of our property and hunting some local public lands. That has been hit or miss and there's been a lot more bear activity in those areas. The three weeks of vacation will start in another week and a half, so that's when I'll be going to Ohio and diving into some private ground.
I wish I could take a three week hunting vacation. I took a 10 day elk trip last but that was my longest.
I am in the stand. Checked my camera and had two nice bucks. One really nice tall 8 for where I hunt. Only no day light pictures.
Beautiful morning today, saw 3 different bucks . A spike a 3 pt, and a small 8 pt legal but only 80 inches, my sites are higher than that. May CJ will kill him I hope
No going again this afternoon. Water is starting to crest in the area and should be able to drive directly to property. With bridge closures detours it takes an extra hour to drive in.
Went out tonight and saw a few decent bucks but I didn't get a shot at one, I didn't come home empty handed though I shot a wild boar.
About 4 hrs NW of Fort Worth in the panhandle in a little town called paducha. Mossy oak owns a piece of land across from us and films hunts there.
Went out Saturday morning and afternoon. The morning hunt started out great and then my neighbor's dogs start chasing all of the deer. Upon further review, I have them on my camera pretty much every day. So I left my hunt early to go take care of that. Hopefully it's no longer a problem. For the afternoon, my plans were to hit up some public land, but muzzleloader/youth pheasant brought everyone out. So after spending a half hour checking some locations, I ended up back at my parents property. Wasn't that confident in the spot but ended up seeing an 8 point. I was on the side of a ridge point and he came right up the middle about 30 yards away. I took too long deciding if he was old enough or not, so I missed my opportunity. Checked the cams Sunday and looks like I made the right call on passing him up. Still stings, though.
Sitting 65 degree weather,. Warm for around here. But it's October and archery season,. I am 20 feet up a tree any way as I type
Minnesota youth season is this Thursday thru Sunday so I will be sitting with my kids. When that is over it is finally going to be my turn for a while. I am going to bring my bow though in case I get an opportunity to go out for a doe one morning.
Good luck everyone, I will be in a different area tomorrow morning. good luck with the kidos, I have taken my bow before also, never had an opportunity thou
