So my wife tells me she scheduled a guided boar hunt for my birthday next weekend. Does anyone know what the best type of broad heads to use? my bow is currently a 27" draw 47#. Using 27" 400 spine carbon black out arrows. Using 100g field tips that I have tuned in with Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
FYI the lungs are half the size of a deer. So your kill zone is smaller. Look up thier anatomy before you go if you've never hunted them.
Use a fixed blade. I will you give you my opinion on some i like to use. Slick trick magnums and standards, muzzy 3 blade, g5 montec and if you have the money I would try out solids.
Look for a good cut on contact to blade perhaps such as DRT Single bevel that should do the trick .i do not think you pull enough wait for a mechanical Brodhead on something as tough as a pig . Just my opinion . Good luck on the hunt.
Thanks joshcalhoun I ordered the muzzy 3 blade. Came with one 4 broad heads for the price of 3 montecs. Enough to fill the quiver. I know my draw weight isn't up there yet as I just started out with bow hunting. But I'm hoping my 47# can get it done. If not my AR chambered in .300 BLK will be with me to finish off what my bow can't but I think it'll be ok. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hunt was yesterday and definitely a success but I think you jinxed me as I was unable to get a clear shot with my bow due to bad positioning and foliage. The dog ran into some trouble when I finally had wide open field to fire a shot, had to put down the bow and go in for the shank. Still ended up a great day Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
