It's time to go home or its dark. How do you get out with deer around?

I've heard you should bark or howl like a yote.

That sounds very reasonable and would make good since.

I've tried this and failed completely. Meanwhile I'm just a big dummy in a tree. The deer never left. My deer must be stupid

I agree with sota, sometimes you get busted but if it's a shooter then you just have to suck it up and sit longer....I call it getting trapped and it happens a bunch during the season

Yeah they usually stick around longer if it is really cold or if you have to pee really bad.

Good question. I ran into this situation 2 evenings ago. I waited until probably 45 minites after legal shooting light, to the point where I could hear deer under my tree but it was so dark that I could barely make out their silhouettes in the moonlight. I thought about howling like a coyote but finally just decided to slowly and as quietly as I could start making my way out of the tree. I'm sure that I spooked them some since they left but I wasn't sure what else to do. I wasn't going to spend the night in my tree stand.

Last night i ran into that problem. As soon as it got dark 6 deer walked out of the tree line and had me blocked in the blind. I snapped my fingers a few times but they didn't care. They ran off after I started moving.

I've tried to wait them out, but let's be real. Deer feed at night. You'll never win that battle. I've tried barking or howling and I've had them just stand out there and look my direction. I've had deer feeding in the same feeds that yotes were hanging out in.

Sometimes it just happens and you just gotta try and get down as quietly as possible and stay in the timber for cover. If they spook hopefully they just won't know exactly where you were or what you are.
