    Hey guys,

Opener was this last weekend, but I opted for duck hunting instead. We scored a 4-man limit of teal and mallards.

This coming weekend I take off for a rifle antelope hunt. I'll be doing that Saturday through Tuesday.

After that, it'll be archery deer until November.

Mornings have been a bit chilly the past few days.

Finally, it is starting to feel like deer season. Opens up Saturday here, may try to get out there for a hunt this weekend. Damn heat hasn't had me thinking about hunting so still need to gt all my gear gathered up and sorted through. Shouldn't be too much of an ordeal though.

It'll be Halloween before we know it!

Was gonna go after Griswald tonight but the wind changed and isn't right. So I'm taking a teenager out at another spot. He's killed deer with s crossbow before but we hooked him up with a compound. Hopefully I can him shooting a doe on camera tonight.

Deer moving around me all morning. So think in some spots that I can't get a shot. Good luck if you're out this morning.

Had a good morning. Saw 3 stags(bucks) and 5 hinds(does). Passed on a shot at a spike who came in at 10 yds.

Seems like you guys are seeing some deer!

Boof, duck opens here this Saturday. Can't wait!

My long awaiting response from a property I was hinging my season on fell through. Total bummer, but what can you do. I'll keep trying and revert back to my public stomping grounds.

Stay safe and good luck all.

Filled my antelope tag on opening morning. It's officially deer from here on out.

D loop broke wen I drew back today during practice. String came off and broke a cam bearing. Luckily I got it fixed. Shooting a bit high now but will get it worked out before I hunt this weekend. I was freaking out haha.

That is always a fear in the back of my mind! lol. I've only rolled the string off the cams before, practicing weird body positions and angles to shoot from.

Last year I spent a lot of time learning how to build/tune my own bow. So luckily I have just about all the tools needed to fix most situations. And let me tell you once you have a basic grasp on tuning. There will be no bow shop that can dial in your bow better than you can.

Plenty of squirrels out this morning. The temps have dropped a bit in Ohio. Haven't seen any deer movement yet today. But plenty of squirrel movement.

Nothing like squirrels early season when you totally forget what deer sound like...lol

Opening day of ducks tomorrow. About to go pull cams and do a quick confirmation scout for tomorrow AM.

Good new to report. I managed to snap another picture of that giant buck that I posted weeks back. I got him at 7:38pm. Moving very close to light. This is exciting...

T-minus 7h 30 minutes until duck season opens. Can't wait!

Didn't see anything this morning and nothing yet today. However I pulled a card from where I hunted this morning and had these dudes walk by awhile back. Not the most recent picture but glad to see there are a couple more bigger deer running around.

I leave for my Colorado elk hunt a week from tomorrow! I'm beyond excited. Made a 400 and 500 yard shot for the first time in my life yesterday. I don't plan to shoot that far but it certainly is a confidence booster.

Might get two more buck hunts in this week and the beginning of next. If I don't get anything by the time I get back from Colorado the rut should be in full swing!

Good luck Travis, hoping to see you sitting behind a giant bull!

The duck opener was a success. We were covered in birds all morning. Shot our first banded mallard which was a bonus to a great morning. I will be duck hunting through the ending of the first season which is this Saturday. After that all hands on deck in the deer woods.

On the topic of food, I made some excellent new dishes with the duck breasts from last weekend. I'm willing to bet a lot of those recipes would work great with venison as the duck seems to have a similar flavor.

I'm heading out for my first deer hunt of the season tomorrow. I'll be spending a 4-day weekend on my dad's property in northern MO with my dad, borther-in-law and nephew. One thing is for certain, we will eat well hehehe.

Best of luck in Colorado Travis.

Hunted last night and passed on a 120ish 4x4. Had him at 18 yards for the last 10 minutes of shooting light, but decided to let him go. It's still early.
