Investing in you kids is the most important thing you can do. Your daughter will cherish these moments you spend with her forever. I hope you both have a great hunt together and show us the deer she gets when you can!
Well spent last weekend in the woods, perfect temp of 50s for GA combined with a new moon and the deer were moving! Friday night sit, Had set up my Ghostblind (The four panel blind w/ mirrors - I absolutely love it) Almost impossible to see the blind in the picture. and not an hour later had a huge doe at least 160lbs start circling around the bottom I was set up in, she was set to come right across my blind at 30yrds. She got to 50yrds and another deer across the bottom spooked her never saw the other deer. About an hour later I heard a deer come in behind me, and early season jitters had me turn too quick, I turned and looked, 8pt standing their at 30yrds staring right at me! I froze and he spent the next 5 minutes stomping at me, jerking his head, and blowing at me multiple times trying to figure out what I was! He moved out and I had him broadside at 30 but he was just too young and skinny for me. He got out to 70yrds so I grunted at him for fun and actually stopped him, grunted 5 more times and had him come right in front of my blind. Big Doe that came in, right before she spooked. Saturday morning, had two decent does and a fawn walk across my blind at 60yrds, a little too far for me. I dont like to shoot past 40yrds. Did not see anything Saturday night. Sunday morning, had a doe at first light stroll by at 50yrds, decided to take a shot and had it perfectly lined up but went right under her. about an hour later I had a spike come in and hangout, then a couple hours later had a doe book it through the bottom at a 100mph, wasn't too sure why. Sunday Night, hunted a field edge near camp and had a doe come across, but out too far again. Seen the deer, just couldn't get the shots, Seen about 7 scrapes in the area and a lot of sign, set up a trail camera and a scrape dripper on one and I am so excited to be going back in a couple weeks!!
OK - Just got in from an evening hunt. Saw two doe. One was a shooter for sure. Stayed out around 55yards as they made their way past. Darn! Had another one bust me as I was setting up my stand. I'm not getting out this weekend with a wedding out of town..then work trip to Miami. Hopeful to get an evening in late next week then Saturday.

She loves to hunt. Last year was her first year hunting and she only hunting with her rifle and killed her first doe. This year she said she wanted to hunt with her bow but she is very small build and can't pull enough pounds for me to be comfortable enough to let her hunt with it. She was heartbroken so I decided that I would get her a crossbow to let her get her feet wet. She has spent all summer scouting with me and picked out the buck she wants to kill and everything. For 8 years old she knows a lot about deer and their habitat and I couldn't be any more proud of her. This is the deer she picked out.
Lol not happening here in NY lol, I could possibly hit 150-160 if I hold out long enough Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
Being 8, what crossbow did you find best for her? I bought my dad a Ghost 385 a few years back but, I'm not sure my 9 year old could handle it. Also, does she use a shooting rail or stick pod?
You guys have some tremendous bucks around! Awesome possibilities. My neighbor took a doe this am from the back yard. It would be a possibility for me however, no doe tag for the area! Tons of season left....heck it just started. Can't wait to get back on stand.
Absolutely loaded with sign. So much it almost made me sick. The problem.. mosquitos. Dried up swamp smh Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
I bought her the Barnett Game Crusher crossbow and it fits her great. Her arms are plenty long enough for it and she is only about 3'7" lol. I have a Caldwell shooting tripod that she uses for her rifle and it adjusts to fit the crossbow perfect.
