Hey Everybody, My name is Luke and I am new to the forum. I have been a long time reader but this is my first post. I thought that this story would be a great start. I have been hunting since a friend took me when I was 16 (8 years ago). I have been stuck ever since. I bought a used bow from a friend 4 years ago and have fallen in love with archery hunting. I finally harvested my first deer with a bow last year taking a nice doe. I lost a nice buck two years ago on Halloween day on public land that I hunt. This year during turkey season I found a great new spot on the public that I hunt and knew that I wanted to put a stand up come deer season. I hunted the Saturday of opening weekend and had some does at 17 yards when I went for my bow I got my EZ hanger caught between my limb and top cam making a thud noise. Needless to say the does got nervous and walked off before I could get a shot. Yesterday I thought would be a great day to hunt being that it was a new moon on Friday and cooler temps. I got in the stand an hour and a half before shooting time and with much anticipation. Just before legal shooting time I seen a deer come into the field about 90 yards away. Figuring it would move towards my stand I quickly stood up and grab my bow to make sure I was ready if it did. I still couldn’t tell what it was but as it got to about 40 yards I could tell it had antlers and a big body. I turned my camera on but the tree cover in front of me blocked a lot and so I barely got footage. As the deer fed to 30 yards (it was 7:00 am at that point) I had about a basketball size hole in front of me to shoot but still had some limbs to shoot through. When I realized he was not coming closer, and started leaving the field, I crouched down (to avoid limbs) when I was a full draw and stopped him. The shot hit him perfect he ran about 50 yards and died in the field before getting to the woods. I thought I was going to pass out. It felt like I was having a stroke because my left side felt numb lol. I thank God and my beautiful wife for the ability and opportunity to enjoy hunting and everything outdoors. Hope you guys enjoy the post and good luck this season. Take any guesses on the score I have no idea lol this is my first buck. Thanks Luke
